Hi All,
I am curious as to what a competitive applicant has for an ATI TEAS score, GPA, prereqs. I understand the minimum TEAS was 78, but it has been temporarily lowered to 65.
Obviously, the higher the scores the better, but what does an average accepted applicant's scores look like?
What is a solid TEAS score for acceptance, do I have to score in the 90s or are scores in 70s adequate?
Do most selectees earn A's on their Zoology and MICR, or are B's competitive? Essentially, I am wondering if I should fork out additional money to retake the zoology classes to raise the B's to A's or is that an unwise use of tight funds?
Any guidance is appreciated.
rockinitfreshhawaii: Here is the link its on Oct 16, it didnt say anything about deadline, but there is a number there. I will be going on the 16th of Oct. I only have my BLS, no first aid or aed.
Thanks Ellers. I'll check if my employer could give me time off to go to the event or if it could be included into my hours.
I plan on getting a weekend job. Hopefully my connections at the hospital will help me get a ward clerk position. I don't have kids or other folks to support so I hope my small school savings will suffice for the 4 semesters of nursing school.
October is near, which means acceptance/rejection letters are near! Early October surprise? :cross fingers:
Its finally October!
Ellers: How old are you kids? Do you have help at home?
I have 2 kids myself the youngest is 4 months old. I just applied for a CNA position at Queens and another at a retirement home. Hoping to get experience under my belt. But the more i think about it the crazier it seems to work and go to nursing school..( if i get accepted=) So, i know how you feel. Its a sad to think about not seeing my babies. To bad Hawaii doesnt offer a part time program.
Have you applied for Financial Aid? A friend of mine that graduated nursing last year was able to set aside over 2000 a semester after buying books and supplies with her grants.
Roz,
My kids are 8, 5, and 2. I also wished they had a part time or night classes, that would have been a big tremendous help. I do not have much help. I am a single mom, I recently moved back from florida about a year ago, and had to move in with my parents but they can't help (besides free rent) because they also have their own lives. My mom works at queens for as an OR nurse. She said Queens west will open up job postings Oct.8. I think I will apply as I live on this side. I do plan to stop working if I get in. My main problem will be daycare. Right now I pay 800 a month. and if I get in i have to pay more to put my other two kids in before care and a+.
Yea I have financial aid. I am in fall semester right now and have financial aid set up until spring, but I am not sure if that will transfer over to the ADN, do you know if I have to do it all over again since it is a different program?

October is here! I see a bit of light! =)
Wow! You go mama! You have a lot on your shoulders. Its inspiring to hear other moms taking on nursing school with so much on their plate!
Daycare and school for kids is always so expensive. My mother in law runs a daycare, she is amazing, her rate is a couple hundred dollars less than what you are playing now. I wouldnt trust my children with anyone else. If you are interested, lmk. I know it hard moving kids from one place to another, but it might help. And shes right by KCC.
I think you do have to re apply with your changed major, but im not sure. Something to look into for sure!
Do you know when Queens west will open?

Ellers- is the First AID/BLS a prereq once accepted to UH or just a good to have? I didn't see a reference to it on their website, so I suspect I am looking in the wrong location? I am current on all flavors or CPR, Rescue Breathing, and AED, but not current on first aid or first responder.
