  1. What was your TEAS score for KCC?

Hi All,

I am curious as to what a competitive applicant has for an ATI TEAS score, GPA, prereqs. I understand the minimum TEAS was 78, but it has been temporarily lowered to 65.

Obviously, the higher the scores the better, but what does an average accepted applicant's scores look like?

What is a solid TEAS score for acceptance, do I have to score in the 90s or are scores in 70s adequate?

Do most selectees earn A's on their Zoology and MICR, or are B's competitive? Essentially, I am wondering if I should fork out additional money to retake the zoology classes to raise the B's to A's or is that an unwise use of tight funds?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Cougar,

Initially UH was the first choice but after comparing tuition and commute, I decided to go with the ADN program. KCC offers a LCC cohort, which will save me gas and all that stuff. I have heard a lot of good things about KCC, I heard they have more clinical hands on. And you can always bridge into UH BSN, which to me if it comes down to taking a semester off to take the boards, I am okay with that, as I think having some sort of break can actually do a lot of good. But either school is good. I do agree with rockinitfresh hawaii that UH has a much upgraded sim lab which can enhance ones experience even more, but at the end, whether you choose UH or KCC, I think your education will equal the same. =)

Rockinitfreshhawaii,

I tried calling again and no advisors available! Ugh I am driving myself crazy hahaha. OMG I am on youtube everyday watching them. lol. It is just so interesting to watch and gives you an idea of how life will be like. lol

I have a classmate of mines in one of my classes now and she got an 84% on the teas. =-O

Oh nooo that's another >80%. How were here grades?

Her* grades. Did she apply for the spring? I hope not. Lol.

Yea she did 3.6 gpa. Wah!

ayysus more competition haha. I hope she isn't a CNA and has NONE of the co-requisites done.

She has all that cna and all co-req completed.

Is it October yet? This wait tho...

Lol. Almost half way through September. I saw someone on here say they received something around mid-October. So one more month. Sooo long!

Yeah, I saw that too. It was for the Spring 2012 cohort. I'm rooting for a late September surprise!

Coug,

Sorry for the late response, but I didn't get an alert that you had responded. I would say around Sep 11th, I got another letter saying that the nursing department had received everything that was required, so that is a good sign. I, too, hope the results come out sooner rather than later.

Do you have a Bachelors, yet? If so, have you looked into the MEPN program at UHM?

CPO,

Yes I have a bachelors but looking at the MEPN its very intense and fast. I am not currently in health care so I kinda want to take it slower to learn and practice. It would be nice to pop out of there in two years with a Masters but I was also looking at the investment in time with a young one its not something I think would be best for me now.

Second thing that turned me off of the MEPN is that the NP is going to a Doctor of Nursing requirement before I would graduate basically putting me on the hook to go another two years more even if the cohort got grandfathered which I havent heard happening. So we'll see.
