I will be a work-from-home CM. Any advice/tips are needed. I want the good, the bad, and the ugly about this particular job and working for this company.

Specializes in nurseline,med surg, PD.

The salary and benefits are very good. Most managers are very good. The job is very stressful. You will be micromanaged to death.Good luck. You will learn a lot.

I am looking for a case management job from home. Sounds interesting.

I was hired to work from home as well with UHC. However, once I started orientation, the rule was to work in the office for 3 months first and THEN if metrics were met, work from home was an option. While working in the office, the rule was changed to working in the office for up to a year before you went home.

GoldenRN, I'm sorry to hear about that. Are you still with the company? I wondered if this position I was offered would be like that, but even the orientation is from home. How were your other experiences with them?

Specializes in Home Health.

Hello, I'm trying to get into WAH case Management. How do you like your job so far?

Specializes in Management, Med/Surg, Clinical Trainer.

I used to work for United. As stated above be prepared to be very micromanaged; they track everything. They are highly organized, hence the tracking, but you will learn a LOT. So I guess it is a trade off.

Trying to take time off is a bear. Their schedules are very tight and if you want time off someone must cover for you..hence you will cover for others when they have days off. Also you will need to bid for a vacation week AND any DAYS off that you want a year in advance...and if everyone else takes the days you want...you are SOL.

As to going directly work from home, that depends on the part of the country that you live in. Those being hired in states where there is not an office close by will go directly work from home and do all their training over the internet. Those hired in states where there is an office within a few hours drive, well that time in office will depend on that office's rules.

Hi i just accepted a job with uhg...... They say its for ctp community transition program would this happen to be what you do, how is it going i've never done cm before but im excited

Just wanted to update everyone. This is hands down the greatest nursing job I've ever had. I love the company, my teammates, the freedom and flexibility, the encouragement I receive from my boss when proposing new ideas, the pay, etc. We just give a 24-hour notice when we need time off and no one has to cover for us while we are out; we just aren't given referrals on the days we are out. I haven't encountered any micromanaging - just very kind and flexible management.

I'd rather not say exactly what my role is. So far, so good! I don't want any other nursing job besides this one.

403B you got me excited about this new opportunity Thanks so much!!!! I realize even with Good comes the bad and I'm willing to go through it all, if we live long enough we will face trials.....are you provided a phone by the company too, and when setting up my office space is there something that would help my success anything I need to invest in????

403RN - Wondering if you are still enjoying your job at UHG? I have been going through the process and am finally meeting with hiring manager for a Utilization Review position later this week. This will also be a WAH role.

Do you happen to remember any of the interview questions you were asked? I want to be as prepared as possible.

I went through the video interview, recruiter phone interview, and a nurse manager interview with them. It was the best interview experience that I have ever had. They really put me at ease. That being said, I didn't get the job. That was very disappointing as I really wanted to work for UHG.

The interview was the basic/typical interview questions...

Tell me a time when your day did not go as planned...

Tell me about a time when you had to deal with an upset patient...

What is your experience with discharge planning...

Why do you want to work for UHG...

What is your experience with Microsoft Office...

I wish you lots of luck!! Let us know how it goes.
