  1. Just wanted to update everyone. This is hands down the greatest nursing job I've ever had. I love the company, my teammates, the freedom and flexibility, the encouragement I receive from my boss when proposing new ideas, the pay, etc. We just give a 24-hour notice when we need time off and no one has to cover for us while we are out; we just aren't given referrals on the days we are out. I haven't encountered any micromanaging - just very kind and flexible management. I'd rather not say exactly what my role is. So far, so good! I don't want any other nursing job besides this one.
  2. GoldenRN, I'm sorry to hear about that. Are you still with the company? I wondered if this position I was offered would be like that, but even the orientation is from home. How were your other experiences with them?
  3. I will be a work-from-home CM. Any advice/tips are needed. I want the good, the bad, and the ugly about this particular job and working for this company.
  4. This has become such a helpful thread, and I thank you all for your comments! I am still waiting on my acceptance/rejection letter, but trying to plan my finances early on will hopefully alleviate some stress later (if I make it in).
  5. Thank you all for your input. Reading your experiences really does help, and I welcome even more comments so that I may make the best decision for my situation. I wish everyone the best!
  6. mountainaireNP - i have applied to the same program for the Fall 2014 class! i wish you the best of luck and many blessings, and I pray that we both receive GREAT news soon! Have you received the RODP email letting you know your "home" school? Keep us updated on any news.
  7. Thank you all for your helpful information. I will definitely contact financial aid asap if I am accepted. Right now I work M-F as a field staff case manager for a home health company and am a little unsure if I will be able to work this schedule during grad school because it is so chaotic from day to day. Perhaps 3 12-hour shifts will be better, idk. The FNP program will be Fall-Spring-Summer-Fall-Spring (so, ending Spring 2016). Any financial aid will be helpful, but the idea of getting in more debt is dreadful. Oh well...keep the comments coming! Thanks again.
  8. Going through the MSN program and working in a nursing position, would you recommend working a 3 12-hour shifts schedule, a M-F dayshift schedule, or doing something totally unrelated such as being a waitress with a varied schedule (all with an overall goal of doing well in school and being able to pay bills). I realize many factors play into this, but I'm curious about what current and past students have done. What has worked well for you? What hasn't worked well for you?
  9. Hello all. I am waiting to find out if I have been accepted into a MSN-FNP program and would like to know if it is possible to take out extra loan money to cover living expenses while going through the program. This is not the option I would prefer, but if I am unable to maintain full-time status at my current job, it would be nice to know I could switch to part-time and have assistance from loans to cover bills. Several loan options I have researched allow no more than the cost of school itself. I will greatly appreciate any information.
  10. I, too, am very interested in Dermatology NP and would love to know more about it! I will take the FNP route but am a little unsure of doing online vs physical classroom. Then when I earn my FNP, what will I need to do to be known particularly as a Dermatology NP?
  11. Idk the rules for websites, and I apologize if posting websites isn't allowed, but in the event it is, go to Wellmont Health System | Kingsport, Bristol, Johnson City, TN/VA | Ask Nurse Connection, Locate Top Hospitals and Quality Providers, Search Medical Careers then careers then job search. They have many RN openings. God bless!
  12. My suggestion is to run fast and far! After graduating ETSU with my BSN, I worked almost 3 years with MSHA in a critical care area. They are an evil company (almost like a cult), and if management doesn't like you, they will see to it that you are gone and unable to ever get another job with them (and they own almost everything in Johnson City and the surrounding areas). You would not believe the horror stories I have heard since I left...I'm serious. My advice is to work for Wellmont. I am in no way affiliated with this company, but I have worked for them years ago and was treated fairly by everyone, and they offer a lot of incentives to keep their team members happy. JCMC is not union, and their uniform requirement for RNs is galaxy blue.
