It looks like I have about 8 classes to go before I am done with my BSN, so I went ahead and enrolled today!

Hopefully there are a few others of you out there that can guide me through this.

Congrats! Only 8 classes? That's great! Did you have your bachelor's in another field already? Why only 8?

Specializes in Geriatrics, Family Practice.

Way to go I am waiting for to evaluate my transcripts and then I will make a decision.

Specializes in Hospice, ER.

I'm doing Chamberlain RN-BSN. My real comment is how many of us I see that were soandsoLPN and are now soandsoRN! Soon we will all be soandsoBSN.

Specializes in Gastroenterology; and Primary Care.

I just finished the Excelsior College BSN program! I am just waiting for my conferral date to get my degree. I enrolled in the BSN prgram just 2 months after getting my ASN degree from them! I choose to re-enroll with Excelsior due to the fact that they accepted all credits from the ADN degree. Other colleges wanted to pick and choose which credits they wanted to take, and some wanted me to retake courses over! You will love the program! I could have finished the program quickly, but I had so much family stuff going on it took me 3 1/2 years to finish! It took me 2 1/2 years to finish the ADN part. So 6 years is not to bad! I know some students who started their pre-req's for a local community college at the same time I started Excelsior. The are just recently finishing up the ADN program! It took them a few years to do the pre-req's,:lol2: and then they were on the waiting list, and then 2 years in the nursing portion. I also had zero credits when I started with Excelsior College back in 2005, and now I have 124!

Well I just called to drop out.

They won't accept any of the transfer credits that I had for my ASN, and they want me to take an additional 25 credits.

I don't have the time or money for that, and told them so and asked to withdraw.

Back to the drawing board to find a better and more suitable program.

Someone posted on here and I also spoke with my enrollment counselor for and verified that if you have an ASN you will only have to do the nursing portion of the program and all prerequisites are waived because you have an ASN. I think it's only 7 classes and the cost per semester which is 6 months is a little over 3000. So this may be an option for you.

Thanks for the heads up Tiffany

I will be pursuing this option.

Excelsior has really turned my stomach over this one.

This is the reason I didn't do EC's BSN program ... I came in with 206 credits, and they wanted me to do 10 more credits of gen ed., and then the nursing classes. Ugh. I mean, really?? Chamberlain was the best fit for me; I'm sure you'll find one that is a fit for you as well. Good luck!!

I'm glad you posted this. They could not reason with me at all about why I have two degrees, but still needed all those Gen ed credits.

I told them to forget it, and I would find another program.

WGU is definitely looking promising!
