I used to ask a million questions on this forum, but it's been at least 2 years since I last logged in. I'm just chiming in to tell you all that travel nursing for me was extremely worth it. I paid off all of my debt, including my mortgage, all within 2 years. I'm still a travel nurse, and for the past year, ive just been saving, saving, saving and investing in bitcoins - if you're looking for something that is going to explode in the next couple of years, buy some bitcoins via coinbase.com I started buying them in 2011 for a few bucks each. Today, each one is at 1700 and it's going to keep rising. I couldn't have continued to buy them over the years had it not been for TN.

I'm going to keep extending at my current assignment for as long as possible, but once it's done, I'm going perm for a couple of years to learn a new specialty in cardiothoracic surgery. If anyone is looking to make big bucks without any extra frills, call Kyle at Vital Healhcare Staffing. Amazing recruiter and a very small company I believe ran by only himself. Housing can be provided but by a 3rd party and health Insurace isn't great. But the pay is phenomenal.

So bitcoins and my company Have been my lifeline and I just wanted to share those things to all.

Good luck to everyone! And hello Ned!

You are completely missing the basics of investing which is a balanced portfolio. Touting a hot investment does everyone a disservice. How many here read the post and bought bitcoin at between $17,000 and $19,000? In such bubbles, many but in near the top and lose big.

Think about the father of all bubbles: the Dutch tulip bulb bubble. Similar to bitcoin, bulbs had a crazy rise to a similar insane price. More and more investors piled on from fear of missing out. One thing you can say about a tulip bulb is that it has an intrinsic value, albeit small. You can't say that about bitcoin.

What if some poor soul bought bitcoin after reading the initial post and bought for $1,700? Now they're left with a popped bubble and only $12,000.

And what do you mean "no intrinsic value". A $600 billion market says that's false. I can use crypto and send someone $10,000 in an hour or less to the other side of the planet. A bank wire can take 3 days, despite what you see in the movies. Ethereum can build a secure digital voting platform. Companies and researchers can use Golem to buy access to cloud supercomputing. But you think a tulip has more value.

Is it necessary to have a speculative market to have a way to transfer funds? How do you ever have a stable value? That is just as bad as hyperinflation or deflation of poor economies.

ACH transfers cost only pennies and are overnight (I have accounts at three banks that are fee free). There are other systems that are instant and are used by millions without using the electricity that could otherwise supply a small country which is a far more useful use of carbon than funding a transfer system used by almost no one except those who are speculatively trading bitcoin.

This is the best thing I've read all day about Travel Nursing. Thank you for the tips and inspiration!!!
