June 2010 CRNE Results

Published

I don't want to start the posts too early, but I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it is actually supposed to take to get results this year. I know that some people I worked with last summer got theirs in early-mid July. I checked out the CNO website and the CNA website (and a few others along the way) one says 8-12 weeks and the other says 4-6. I'm already driving myself crazy...if I have to wait another 8+ weeks I'll end up really going off the deep end :uhoh3:

Got my results and failed.

This was my 3rd attempt and I am no longer able to write the exam. I called the CNO and they told me that I can apply to write the RPN exam after completing a course or redo my 4 years at the University and try again. What a joke.

She told me that a letter was sent with my options. Don't understand why they could not have sent the information in the envelope with my letter stating I was unsuccessful.

4 long years for this and I am 45 years old.

Specializes in cardiac care.

I am really sorry that you failed the CRNE for the 3rd time. I do not wish to address you by your current Allnurses ID as it is not very encouraging.. I would rather call you "meanttobeanurse" because the mind is a powerful thing.. if you believe that you can do it, you will exhaust all means to reach your goal..

At the moment, I do not know what to say to make you feel better :crying2: I also do not know what options there are for you until you receive the letter from CNO but I hope you find strength and encouragement through this thread:

Before the Morning (Failed CRNE three times. what now?) - Nursing for Nurses

Please don't give up..

This msg is for notmeanttobe

I'm so sorry to read your post. Many of us pass and quickly forget those who weren't sucessful. I don't want to sugar coat this but perhaps (like you name suggests) this was not meant to be. I know that 4 years of school may seem like a waste to you now, but I would like you to humor me and try and remember the first day of nursing school. Now see yourself where you are now. If you choose to be an RPN then I am betting you would be a great one. If it's the money, than you'll be happy to know that RPNs make almost as much as RNs. I'm guessing however that it's more than that. You don't know me from a hole in the ground and you have ten years on me but I firmly believe that life takes you on the path that you are meant to be on. Six years ago I was a government employee, basically a paper pusher. The truth is, I was miserable and if I had stayed on that path I doubt I'd be alive today. Sometimes life just takes your plans and throws them in the trash. If I believed in god I'd pray for you. Instead I'm sending some positive energy to you. Take good care of yourself.

@SHINETTE: CRNE IS CANADIAN REGISTERED NURSES EXAMINATION...... FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE, NCLEX IS A MORE OF MEMORIZING NURSING FACTS AND U NEED TO STUDY DEEPLY SOME OF THE BOOKS LIKE SAUNDERS, KAPLAN, MOSBY,DAVIS, LIPPINCOTT AND PRACTICE ON A LOT OF QUEStions

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

A reminder: The use of all capitals in posts is the Internet equivalent of shouting. Please reserve the use of capital letters for special emphasis only. For reference please see the Terms of Service

I passed the exam and I went to Nipissing University and did the exam in Hamilton. I used the Mosby CRNE lastest edition,CRNE prep book, and CRNE online sample test. I also did a six day (over 3 weeks) prep course that really help me out in the Toronto area (Toronto school of health). Hope this information can help someone.

notmeanttobe: I am really sorry to hear this. 4 years is a long time. Please don't forget that you already have earned a BScN which is worth something in itself. One option you might want to consider is Public Health. I am from Eastern Ontario and our health units here have "Health Promoters". The requisites include a University Degree in an area of Health Sciences (which you have)! I don't know how you felt about your community placement but this is 1 option you may want to consider. The pay is 60-68K last ad I saw....
