I don't want to start the posts too early, but I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it is actually supposed to take to get results this year. I know that some people I worked with last summer got theirs in early-mid July. I checked out the CNO website and the CNA website (and a few others along the way) one says 8-12 weeks and the other says 4-6. I'm already driving myself crazy...if I have to wait another 8+ weeks I'll end up really going off the deep end
So..the envelop that carries a failing grade is no bigger than the pass? Just thicker? Or is it a big envelop? I keep hearing different things!!
I think the people who answer the phones have no idea what they are talking about! How could so many people in Ontario have their results when they haven't yet been shipped? What the?

Yes, I failed 2 times and both envelopes were both thick compared to my friends who passed had a thinner envelope. My postage was near $1.00 for the failed and around 60-75 cents for passed. The envelope was the same size. Now since this was a new exam did they change there format or sending envelopes. Only the ones who passed and failed can answer this question.
I think because Ottawa had more than 1 place writing the exam like Toronto, might have them shipped out first. Why Ottawa seems to be the last one to ship their results is unknown at this time.
I've spent the last half hour reading through this post and would like to thank you all for your insight and support. I wrote the CRNE in June like most of you and have been waiting for my Temp Registration for about a month. I agree with many of you in that this system of waiting 6-8 weeks is absolutely ridiculous. With current technology the College could migrate to an online results system similar to the NCLEX however I think it will take a long time for them to get there and for three main reasons.1) How much money do you think the College makes from Temp registrations? If they made the results available sooner they would lose a lot of revenue. However, my solution is that they increase the registration amount to make up for that lost revenue. Would you pay an additional $20 to have your results in 2 weeks?
2) This is the way that things have always been. If you talk to experienced nurses they'll tell you that this agonizing wait has been going on for a long time. It's almost a right of passage to becoming a nurse. This environment of "doing things because we've always done them that way" is deeply engrained in nursing practice. In school we are taught to critically think and to use best practice guidelines yet our profession is wrought with this attitude.
3) Nobody will ever put up a fuss long enough to get things changed. The truth is that even the most angry and frustrated nursing grad will be elated with joy once their results come in the mail. After you are all RNs, this experience will go down in your mind and you'll be telling new grads that everyone must go through this (see point no. 2 above).
I must also say that I was angered when I read the posts about the rude gentleman proctoring the exam in Ottawa. What frustrated me more was the fear from new grads about speaking up about this. We should NOT fear our governing body. Although the CNO (I'm talking Ontario here ...insert provincial body as required) is in place to protect the public, they also have a duty to behave professionally and respectfully to it's members. Remember that it's your dues that pay their stipend. Again referring to our education, we are taught that we must not ignore any behaviour unbecoming of this profession. I don't think that belittling a group of anxious exam writers is professional at all.
So off of the soap box and back to reality here. Most of the CNO is elected by RNs. What can you do to change the examination process? Bring it up to your elected officials. Or better yet run for positions yourself. There are many things that are wonderful about our profession however there are also many things that need to change. In order for that to happen WE must initiate the process.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer. I'm anxiously awaiting my results as well. Good luck to you all.
You've hit a homerun with your post. I wish the CNO staff and all the nurses out there can read this.

With current technology the College could migrate to an online results system similar to the NCLEX however I think it will take a long time for them to get there and for three main reasons.. I was in the same boat..I was waiting for my temp registration but I had a start date for my new grad initiative job that required a registration number. I went through complete torture trying to get my license before exam reuslts were released (processing of temp registration is cancelled if not yet given a number when results are issued then its another waiting game for general class). I spoke with about 15 different representatives at the CNO and I was told about 15 different things regarding processing for a temp license. FInally after being told so many different things I totally broke down and wanted to speak with a manager. It was a miracle at that point how someone was able to help me. After calling for 12 days straight.....express mailing my package and getting a huge run around...they still did not have my package in their office. Once I asked for a manager the lady a) found my package b) processed it which was supposed to take 10-15 days once they found the package c) issued me a temp license all within 20 min despite the fact that 15 people told me it would take 10 days and none of them could help me. The inconsistency of the college is sickening. How one organization can be so unorganized is both ridiculous and unacceptable. Not to mention the lack of empathy and understanding offered by nearly every representative I spoke with. For a governing body, who teaches us practise standards.....they really should practise what they preach. Anyway...my experience with the CNO has taught me early that trusting what the customer serive reps say would be a mistake....so for all of you who are going according to what the CNO has said......dont waste your time or energy...they have proven to be very uncooperative and inconsistent. I am awaiting my results just like many of you..Good luck to everyone.
Results are in. I failed by one point. My Total score is 120. I cried for a bit, found it useless and now I have no idea what to do, in a state of shock. I have never failed anything. EVER. Yet I fail the most important exam of my life? Wow. Don't know what to think, say or do. I guess I will hide away now... what makes me more angry is that ONE point! ONE!!

I also phoned the college of nurses today to see if my results were mailed yet. I recieved the response in which the representative stated that the results would be going out either today by 5pm or tomorrow. I did not tell her any identifying information such as location, name, or testing center where exam was written...
