JU summer 2011 hopefuls

Published

Hi,

I'm new at this posting thing but it seems really helpful to talk to other people going through the same process of finding good schools and applying for the highly competitive programs. I figured i would try and start a new thread for anyone who is applying for the program that start at JU in May of 2011! :) Best of luck to everyone

I got an email today saying that letters would be sent out by the end of next week at the LATEST. Yay! Wish it was sooner...

Oops, sorry. I couldn't view the last 2 posts on my phone... anyway, I just got a letter of denial from UNF today, so it will make me ecstatic if I get in!

I just checked the JU calendar and this is their spring break week...I wonder if that means anything for us.

I also received that e-mail! Atleast we know when to expect it so we don't have to run to our mailbox everyday this week! hehe.

Good luck again everyone :)

SarahBanana, since it is their spring break this week, that is probably why we should not expect them untill the end of next week. :)

Im new to this thread! But I also got the email, march has definitely been the logenst month ever! I can barley sleep at night! But I hope we all get in and can become nurses together :)

hopefulnurse1101, welcome! Hope we can all get good news and meet one day!

:)

yeah, but i was thinking, if they are on spring break this week, why is he emailing all of us? are they still in the office working, and stuffing envelopes?! LOL! :jester: I'm still a little hopeful everyday that I go to the mailbox :lol2:

SarahBanana, I bet they are! Well I hope they are lol, I want my letter!! :) haha

Good luck!

I was wondering if anyone knows how many people they had interviewed? I know it's kind of late to ask but I was just thinking how they were going to base their decision. I wonder if the interview and essay was the final determination? & of course still no letter... :bluecry1:

I think its G.P.A, interview, then essay and of course those letters. At least that's what ______ said to me.

gavra, this is what i was told...they have on average about 300 applicants. first, each applicant has to be accepted into the school itself to even be considered for the nursing program. then they have to meet the gpa requirements. if the applicant passes those two things and the nursing school accepts their recommendation letters, they at least got an interview. now, obviously all 300 people didn't get an interview. to get into the school itself is also pretty tuff competition! they are not going to accept all 300 people trying to get into the nursing program so that is going to cut down the interview amount. then once they are interviewed, they look at the scores on interview and essay...they add it all together lay out the applications of all who passed all of these things and are still qualified and rank them. highest 15 get an acceptance letter, next 15 or so get a waiting list letter (they said that if you get a waiting list letter it means you deserve a spot and would have received one had they had room for you), and whoever is left will receive a denial letter.

also, i was told that if you receive a waiting list letter but still do not get in, you do not have to re-apply or re-interview. all your information and scores will roll over for the next admissions process.

if you get a denial letter, you will have to re-apply and re-interview.

hope this helps!! :)

Thank you both for the information.

-->Grenkr: I really appreciate you telling me all this info. The only thing I am worried about is my prereqs GPA which is at 3.2 I worked full time while going to school full time and that is the one thing I struggled with. I am mostly a "B" student. The interview went great and so did my essay I feel. I even have been volunteering at Mayo Clinic for almost a year and they ended up being my reference. The only thing that scares me is the highest rank due to my GPA. But when I interviewed with the professor she kept talking about how she loves "B" students not everything is in A student's this and that. I really do hope we all get into the program here. I just don't know if the other items will pull my rank up due to my GPA.

Thank you again. :)

i honestly would not worry about the gpa so much. i was mostly an a student and had a 3.6 when i applied, but i am sure there were applicants with 4.0's but that doesn't necessarily mean they had a great interview or essay you know? a 3.2 is a good gpa and like you said, you are confident you did great on your interview and essay and had good recommendations. they only required a 2.5 so i think you are okay gpa wise. i honestly think interview and essay counted the most. my gpa is kind of high and my interview was great but i got the one essay topic i didn't want lol. everyone has some good and some not so good. just stay confident and be positive :) i am sure you will get in!
