JU summer 2011 hopefuls

Published

Hi,

I'm new at this posting thing but it seems really helpful to talk to other people going through the same process of finding good schools and applying for the highly competitive programs. I figured i would try and start a new thread for anyone who is applying for the program that start at JU in May of 2011! :) Best of luck to everyone

If you made it to UNF you should definitely go there because tuition is so much cheaper at UNF and it is a great school as well. I applied but did not make it to UNF. I also receive full financial aide eligibility and $20,000 scholarship for JU so I am not worried about the loans much. There are many great government repayment loans out there if you work for a min of 2 years in a critical care facility they pay back 65% of your loans. I think that if you got into UNF you should go for it. I have a friend who is in their program and she loves it.

:) Good luck on your decision.

Are you currently attending JU? Just wondering because I called the Fin. aid office to ask what else I could do before being accepted, and the woman told me some basic online stuff...but she never said a THING about scholoarships/ grants...

i didn't get into unf either but ju is my first choice just still waiting on a letter :(

i agree that if you get into unf that you should go there. it is definitely a lot cheaper since it is not a private college and is a really great program!! i know a lot of people who graduated from there and they loved it! i know ju automatically gives you a scholarship based on your gpa and i believe the advisor also told me that you automatically get one for living in florida...but i am not sure about that one. i couldn't get financial aid so fortunately my grandfather has offered to pay my tuition in full if i get into ju but every scholarship helps!

good luck on which ever you choose! they are both great programs :)

Yes, they do give you an automatic $7,000 annually scholarship for all students plus some for better GPA. I actually go to UNF but I was accepted into JU but waiting to see if I get into the nursing program to JU it is my first choice as well. If you file for financial aide they will give you the estimated family contribution.

I am hoping the letters come out tomorrow but I doubt it will be this soon of the week.. I am glad we all can stay in touch through this website and keep each other posted it really is a great site.

NMA522: My interview on skype was pretty nice! I mean I'm sure not that different from a regular interview ;) I would have liked to meet in a group and travel to florida for my interview though! It would have been nice to meet some of you guys!

To everyone again GOOD LUCK!!! This is the week! YAYYYY :)

Is there a deadline for the financial aide for JU summer session? I need to contact a financial aide counselor but it's tough doing things out of state. I can't wait to be in FL.

I was told the deadline for financial aide for summer was March 15th.

Hi guys, I just spoke with Chris in person today and as of yet letters have not been mailed out. He said that there was an unusually large number of applicants this year so it's been taking longer. Hopefully things will be finalized today or tomorrow and mailed out by tomorrow or Friday...meaning you won't get your letter until Saturday or Monday at the earliest.

This is really frustrating for me since I have to RSVP to UNF by Monday before 8 am. It's likely I won't hear back from JU by then, so I don't really have the option of 'choosing'. Speaking of which, what made you guys choose JU over UNF?

Thanks for the update!! I was seriously BUMMED when the letter did not show up today. If they send them out tomorrow, people in FL will receive them on Friday.

Thank you for the info!! :)
