Greetings Everyone!
I know this is early to make a thread for the Fall 2011 Hopkins Applicants! But still, it is better to start getting ready than waiting at the last minute! I highly suggest everyone start getting your letters of recommendations, and just hide it until you are ready to apply. I will be applying and submitting my application around September 2010 as an early decision applicant for Fall 2011.
I have to finish up Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Developmental Psychology, and one more chemistry class this coming Summer 2010. During the Fall of 2010 and Spring 2011, I will be finishing up just general requirements like history, Microbiology, English Composition, Statistics, some foreign languages, and humanities (elective classes).
I will be applying for the BSN Traditional Program considering I do not have a degree, thus, I am not qualified to apply for the accelerated program. I'm really excited about this.
I will only be applying to UPenn and Johns Hopkins University for my BSN traditional program. If I do not get accepted, I will be attending my current university's school of nursing. I am already in the university's nursing program, but I don't start clinical preceptorship until 2 years from now.
I will graduate May 2013 regardless where I go. Either JHU or UPenn or stay at my current university.
If I will be accepted at either JHU or UPenn, then definitely I will be attending those schools! I love nursing research, and I want to learn more about research and providing quality care to our patients.
We will see how it will go. I have six months until I submit my application to both schools. Remember time is running fast.
Hope everyone are doing well on their pre-requisites! Good luck to all!
Feel free to post around so we can help each other for Fall 2011! I've read the thread for the JHU Fall 2010. I've noticed everyone in that thread got accepted, and some waitlisted! Its a good sign!
Have a wonderful day!

Hey Boto!I am going to go to the Columbia open house because to date, I still have not met any faculty or students. I only really know Columbia through its admissions team, and I want to get a better sense of what the program is all about. I met some Hopkins faculty and students back in October for an open house -- and they were wonderful.
Let me know which one you choose to go to!
I've found Columbia incredibly difficult to penetrate!! I can't get time with anyone other than the guy we all talk to. I definitely see your point, but I'm also inclined to visit Hopkins since it would be really nice to meet potential classmates!
Hello,
I am a trad BSN and MSN applicant and I had an interview January 25th. I think that is a little abnormal though, because I also passed in my application on November 12th because I was not sure if I wanted to enter the traditional or accelerated path. I am really curious about when the trads will be contacted- I guess probably in March, because admissions is busy with the ABSN's decisions as of now. As soon as I found out either way I will let everyone know, and I hope the trad students on this forum will do the same!
Congratulations to the accepted ABSN's! I bet you guys are ecstatic!
i got a call from the admission office today saying i was accepted into the accelerated program and that the masters committee will be making its decision at the end of the month/early march.admitted students day is march 4th - same as columbia - why???
Congrats, Ruby! :yeah:Which masters specialty have you chosen?
I've also been accepted to Columbia and I'm super frustrated with the overlapping Columbia/JHU admitted students days. You'd think these guys would coordinate! I know nothing about Columbia and a lot about JHU, which I think says something about the programs (something that's weighing heavily in my final decision of where to go). As much as I would like to check out Columbia, I'm 90% sure that I'm going to Hopkins, so I really want to meet the rest of the cohort.
Which accepted students day will you attend?

hi cartwheel,
i applied to adult primary care at jhu and and women's health primary care at columbia. i dont think i am going to go to either day because i have midterms (still working on my pre-recs!) that week.
i honestly dont know if i will go to either because the tuition is so high. if i get into a state school i think i will completely my BSN there then go for my masters at a fancy school. i love both programs for different reasons (i grew up next to columbia and i love jhu's academic program) but i dont know if i can justify incurring so much debt for a BSN.
i am going to submit financial aid paperwork for both just in case.
When I interviewed for the Traditional BSN/MSN in January, Megan said we could expect a decision for the BSN portion by Feb 15. So far it seems like only the Accelerated folks have been receiving phone calls. I've been making myself crazy checking my phone every 15 minutes, so I finally put a call in to the Office of Admissions to see if we should still be expecting Traditional BSN/MSN decisions this week.
The woman I spoke with said that we probably won't hear anything until early/mid March. Ugh.
I'm pretty certain that JHU is my first choice, but now I'm planning on putting a deposit down at another school that requires notification by March 1 (Emory). Apparently, another school I applied to--OHSU--doesn't even send out admission decisions until late April. Between the "just to be safe" deposits and the application fees for schools that have late notification--I feel like I've wasted a tremendous amount of money during this application process! I know the programs have different matriculation dates, but it would be SO much easier if they synced up their timelines (similar to the non-nursing undergraduate system).
Congratulations to those of you who have already been accepted, good luck to those of us who haven't heard anything yet, and best wishes to everyone still finishing up pre-requisites!
