Hi guys! I know it's pretty early to start applying, but I'm looking for other people that are planning on applying to Johns Hopkins for their Nurse residency in 2021! I started this thread so we can follow each other throughout the process.

But actually it took a little over two weeks for me to hear back ?. Granted, I didn't reach out to them to ask for an update when I didn't hear anything.
What start date did they give you? Sorry for all the questions - would just REALLY love to get this job LOL
For those of you who were offered a position, did it say part-time, 36 hours? I know 3 12-hour shifts is pretty standard for nurses, but I just want to make sure it's not unusual that mine says part-time. I remember in the info session I attended, they explained how nurses work an extra shift every few weeks in order to equal 40 hours a week. Thanks!

Hi, @ellendeenurse:
My offer letter was for full-time / 40 hours / nights at JHH, but my guess is that could differ for new grads based on the position, unit, and/or location. Hope this helps ?

Random question for you guys. Is anyone else on this thread from a non-compact state and struggling to get their RN license by endorsement in the state of Maryland?
For me it's just been kind of painful. And I'm starting to worry about what happens if it doesn't go through by my start date on 10/04/2021 ?

That is so awesome - congratulations on the interview opportunity! I would be prepared to talk about your passion for the specialty and share stories if you have experience specifically within labor & delivery. They also asked about what an ideal work day would look like for you, and other behavioral questions like that! Hope this helps ?

I am in the same boat but have barely started since I start in November. I tried to call the state board of nursing and didn't get through so I'm trying again tomorrow. Good to know that it's sort of taking a while - I'm sure you will get it in time!!

Thank you! The interview actually went extremely well and I was offered the position! Just curious, how long after being offered the position did it take to get your official offer?
Just an update, I heard from H.R. that if my licensure by endorsement continues to be delayed due to COVID-19, they will start me with the November cohort (instead of October), and my employment won't be affected ?
And @klightwood my official offer letter was made available the same day I received my offer, but I'm guessing that can vary from person to person. It will be sent to you via email, but it's also available on Success Factors, by going to the "Options" tab on the upper right hand corner, clicking on "My Offers", and then "Offer Letter" under your position. That is where you will "Accept" or "Decline" the offer. You'll also see next to it a Scrubs Ordering Guide and the RN Position Description.
Congratulations! ?

I'm glad the delay in your license isn't affecting employment! I have to apply by endorsement too and am worried with how long it could take.
And thank you! I was told at the end of the interview that I was being given the job and it might take a bit to get the official offer out, but it's been a week now and I'm getting nervous LOL Maybe I'll try to reach out this week just to confirm so I can commit to an apartment.
Congratulations to you too! And to everyone else who has been offered a position!
Hello everyone,
I know this post is from last year but I wanted to reach out to those who have already started working at JHH to give an insight about your experience working there and the unit. I have multiple offers in various depts at JHH (so grateful) and my start date is in August. I am trying to schedule my 'shadowing' opportunities in the unit to which I will be working. But I am a bit nervous moving into MD. I also have multiple job offers in my current state so I am trying to weigh my options about JHH's awesome opportunity. I also have an idea where I' going to live as I am not familiar with the area. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your feedback!
Hello ,
Honestly l would say if you have offers where you are, accept it and move on. You can always work for hopkins when you get experience but it's not a good place to start. I moved for the job and l regretted leaving my last job. Also remember it's salaried- who does that? And they pay lowest in Baltimore. I'm just saying it's a good hospital but it's not worth moving for. Most people who stay only do because they moved for the job. It's not worth it
