Johns Hopkins Nurse Residency 2021

Published

Hi guys! I know it's pretty early to start applying, but I'm looking for other people that are planning on applying to Johns Hopkins for their Nurse residency in 2021! I started this thread so we can follow each other throughout the process.

Dmg84, Best of luck to you with the licensing! I am planning on applying to multiple units some time this week.

Thank you! Yeah I have almost 500 hours rotating between a CVSICU and a trauma ICU. Are you planning on applying?!

Wow, that's great! My specialty of interest is cardiac and I'm applying to mainly cardiac units. I don't have ICU experience but I'm debating on whether or not I should still apply to CVSICU.

I’m a new hire at Hopkins. After talking with the nurse recruiters during my application/interview process, Hopkins is pretty picky when it comes to their ICUs. There’s a minimum requirement of 120 contact hours in an ICU before you’re even eligible to apply for the position. In addition, they tend to prefer internal transfers to the ICU because of how policy-heavy the hospital is. Personally, my end goal is to work in the ICU, so I’m in the MPCU which is considered critical care and would facilitate a successful transition to the ICU after a year or so!

Hi! I am an applicant from out of state! I did not know they want you to apply early as I applied once I passed my NCLEX like people typically do in my state. I just received an interview for Bloomberg 10 south and have no idea how this Microsoft Teams interview works. Has anyone recently interviewed have any tips or any questions they didn't feel prepared for? I am SUPER excited to interview and am so happy to even have this opportunity.

Wow, thank you for the insight. Do you know anything about their ICU bridge program and how to get involved in that? I can't find the application for that.

I was originally interested in the bridge program so I gotchu! I would email Kelly Alagna and ask for information on the ICU bridge program ([email protected]). She actually had to send me a link to their job posting since I couldn’t find it as well. She was extremely helpful during my application process!

Hi! Congrats to everyone interviewing and accepting offers! I was just recently hired for the New Grad Neuro Critical Care Unit Position and am relocating to Baltimore from Louisiana. If anyone else is going to the area and looking for a potential roommate I'd love to chat. Goodluck, look forward to hopefully meeting some of you when we start!

Anyone working on Bloomberg 10?? I just got an offer for May to start on the school age med/surg unit! I am from the Chicago area so looking for some friends!
