Published

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing MSN program for August 2021 applicants. I started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the November 1st deadline . Anyone else??

Time travel is never out of the question ?

I got accepted too and from Orange County California. I am extremely excited but really want some pointers regarding moving to Baltimore in terms of moving my car from here in CA to MD and housing

I’m in the same boat, I was reading that some people say you don’t need to bring your car possibly the first year, I wouldn’t even know how to get my car from California to Baltimore haha, I’m from Long Beach California, you’re not too far from me ? as for housing I had a tour recently with 929 apartments, they were really nice and depending on your leasing agreement you 500 dollars off your first months rent. And they also roommate match you if needed ?  btw my name is Yadie ?

Does anyone know what the acceptance rate is for JHU?

I’m having trouble getting reliable info on this. Found a depressing 53% on this site that made me feel like a winner!

I believe in one of the webinars they said it’s typically around 35-40%?

53% - depressing? What do you mean? Acceptance rate says absolutely nothing about the program itself

Sure it does. There are characteristics of a school or program that attracts certain numbers of applicants and this in relationship to the number of available seats budgeted for the year.

I found 57% with an unknown year. I wonder if they offer lots of acceptances, but most people can't pay so they have to keep going through the list?

I sort of wish schools/websites that rank schools would get away with these statistics about admission... Has anyone watched the Netflix documentary "Operation Varsity Blues?" Highly recommended. The whole number thing/ hard to get into "game" that US educational system keeps afloat has caused some issues in the US.

Hi Yadie, thank you for the information?. Yes we are definitely close to each other here in CA?I will be bringing my car because I am moving out of CA for a couple of years. I will look into the 929 apartments and hope parking isn’t a problem cause I have seen most people here are saying parking is a problem in most of the apartments close to the school. When are you thinking of transitioning to Baltimore?

I was just admitted into Columbia off the waitlist yesterday (wild). Now I'm deciding between Columbia and JHU. Anyone else in this boat?

Also, fun fact, these are the only two schools I was admitted to LOL. I got outright rejected from OHSU Ashland ABSN, Norwich ABSN, Northeastern, UW ABSN, and waitlisted for Pacific Lutheran, Regis Loretto, and another one that I can't remember. This process is absolutely insane.

Congratulations earthbender! Are you planning to work as an RN after school or do you plan to immediately embark onto a NP Program? I have a friend who is doing her DNP at Columbia and she said her classmates who came from the Columbia entry program were able to skip a few classes she had to take, because they already took them during their Columbia Master's...
