Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing MSN program for August 2021 applicants. I started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the November 1st deadline . Anyone else??
Hey everyone! I also completed 2 essays (between 425-475 words each). I did not write the COVID essay at the risk of sounding too tacky/cliche. But also because I did not see the essay prompt until I went to submit my application. My undergraduate GPA is ~3.65 with an upward trend, from a T10 university. Although I have both clinical and non-clinical volunteer experiences, I unfortunately haven't done as much volunteering as I would have liked in recent years. I do have a bunch of paid positions and research projects, and my resume ended up being longer than 2 pages. By the way, I did not include any high school experiences/achievements in my application.
Anyone else a bit nervous about the "Sources of Contact" question ("Please indicate what influenced you the most to apply to the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing")? How much influence might this have on admissions? I heard it could have an impact at some schools because they want to maximize yield percentage... I actually typed up an entire essay, but since there was only enough room for 1-2 sentences, my response turned out to be quite generic. ?

LOL me too! I wrote like 300 words, then noticed that none of it fit haha. I cant speak to how much influence it has, but same thing happened to me

Don’t be worried about this question! I actually discussed it with admissions because like a dummy I accidentally left it blank since it is not required. They told me I can add a document with my response (which I did) but it will actually have no impact on your application! I was told it’s basically a gauge to see how their recruiting events are working and nothing else ?

If it makes you feel better I completely missed this question on the app and didn’t answer it LOL. I was still accepted.

WAIT SAME. I had no idea what you guys were talking about but I just looked back on my application and saw that I completely did not answer that question ??. I was still admitted, so like @kourtneyk said, don't worry about it! But if you did go to any of the webinars, I would definitely mention those in your answer to the Sources of Contact question!! It seems like they really like applicants who were engaged with the school throughout the process!!

:dead:
THANK YOU all for the reassurance! I think it makes sense they are mostly using the question to gauge their recruitment strategies (which BTW I think are really fantastic compared to other schools -- you following this thread, admissions team?).
Perhaps my anxiety is just making me overanalyze every little thing as if it would make or break my application haha. ?

I did 2 essays. My word counts were roughly 450 and 500 words.
This is my first time applying.
I had a little over 300 hours in an internship program at the hospital, plus around 15ish hours shadowing a PNP. I also had around 100 hours volunteer tutoring kids. GPA was 3.62 and prerequisite GPA was 3.64.
