Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Fall 2021

Published

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing MSN program for August 2021 applicants. I started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the November 1st deadline . Anyone else??

Thank you so much for your input!! ❤️

And congratulations on your acceptance!!

anyone else apply to the early deadline and not hear back yet? I’m trying not to be negative but still having not received anything makes me think the worse ?  tried calling today but forgot they are closed for the holiday, hopefully tomorrow will be the day!

Have you checked you spam? Send them an email today, so that on Tuesday morning you will eat from them. I think most people have gotten a decision.

The priority deadline (Jan 1) applicants don’t usually hear back until March. They have the schedule posted on their site and I also went back and read some previous cycle forums to make sure.

Have you heard back?

I applied November 2nd. Just heard back that I’m waitlisted! Hoping to get off the waitlist. Does anyone know when they stop taking people off the waitlist and to stop being hopeful? Haha

Congratulations to all those who have gotten accepted!

For those who have been accepted, I have a few questions:

What was the word count on your essays? Did you do 2 or all 3 essays?

Was this your second time applying? If so, what changes did you make to your application/essays for the 2nd time?

What type of work or volunteer experience do you have? If this was your 2nd time applying, did you gain additional experience to add to your application?

Hi!

My word count for my essays were 486 and 533 words, I did two essays.

This is my first time applying.

I do not have any direct health care experience, but I volunteered for an Institute where I worked with immigrants and refugees. As an immigrant myself from Mexico, I came to the US to be an student-athlete, I was four times National Champion and I also hold an MBA. My GPA's are 3.2 for my BA and 3.3 for my MBA. For my prereq's I have 3.8 GPA and I miss two prereqs, that I am going to complete this month. I think they look at the application holistically so, no matter your GPA or stats, try to excel in other areas! ? good luck!!

hi! both of my essays were around 430 words. I did write an essay for the COVID prompt as well, but only two of the three official ones.  First time applying! 100 hours at a medical office and 40 hours at a skilled nursing facility ( paused due to covid)

hi!

- I did the first two essays. The word counts were 386 and 314, respectively.

- this was my first time applying!

- I have been working 2.5 years as a physical therapy aide in an outpatient rehabilitation center. Prior to that I was a manager at Haagen-Dazs and a dog walker/boarder for Rover. I also do undergraduate research in the Neuroscience department at my college. Additionally, I served as the President and recruitment chair for my college's Panhellenic Council. That's all of the experience I included in my resume!

- Ik you didn't ask, but my GPA is a 3.36 (although nursingcas calculated it to a 3.65 since I have transfer credit) and my prerequisite GPA is a 3.95. It seems as though they have a very holistic approach to their admissions decisions, especially considering my overall GPA isn't stellar!
