Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing MSN program for August 2021 applicants. I started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the November 1st deadline . Anyone else??
Hello all!
First time poster, long time thread watcher. Reading the posts from the past couple of days have me freaking out quite a bit. I submitted my application about two weeks ago and I just realized that I totally forgot to paste in my “why JHUSON” answer before submitting! I know this wasn’t a mandatory question to fill in and was super limited, like 300 characters, but of course my anxiety is getting the best of me. Do you guys think not having this question answered will completely throw me out of the running? I feel like I’m a super strong candidate and really don’t want something so minor to ruin my chances!
Also good luck to all those who will be hearing back soon!
I just double checked the wording on that question and it says, "Please indicate what influenced you the most to apply to the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing?" It's in the Sources of Contact section where you check boxes about how you heard of them. Pretty sure it's aimed more for admissions to get an idea of how they can tailor their outreach; I doubt it will have any sort of impact on your application.
If you're really worried about it, maybe try emailing admissions?

Hello! About two weeks after I submitted my application I realized that I had left out the ENTIRE first paragraph on why I wanted to be a nurse.
I contacted admissions and was told that I could add the corrected essay as an addendum and all would be fine! ?
I recommend for you to do just that!

In a webinar a few months ago, I think they said it closes at 11:59 EST on 1/1/21. I'm in the same predicament. I was trying to submit and it wouldn't go through because one of the LOR wasn't in yet. I contacted that person and was told it would be done tomorrow. ?

I emailed JHUSON right at 9PM explaining the situation but have heard no response. ? hopefully they will be lenient since it was a holiday. one can only hope for the best!
good luck! crossing my fingers for you ? its a holiday and pressing time for lots of people, hopefully they are lenient!
Hi all!
I submitted my application about two weeks ago now and it hasn't been verified by NursingCAS yet. I am sort of concerned too because my final grade for one of my prereqs was not posted until December 29th, and I was not aware it could not be verified until that transcript was submitted. I had applied for the Spring of 2021 cohort and was waitlisted, and my understanding was that my application would mostly be verified already. Unfortunately that was not the case, but when I emailed admissions they stated that they won't be able to review it until its verified by nursingCAS, but that it would still be reviewed because it was submitted before the deadline. I am hoping that they understand why I couldn't submit my transcript until I did, but I am still concerned about it.
Fingers crossed for all of us! I know we have all worked so hard to get here, so hopefully we can start 2021 with some exciting news!

Congrats on being waitlisted, it may not be a direct acceptance but its not a rejection! Have you tried reaching out to NursingCas? Maybe they can give you better info on getting that transcript verified quickly, then you can follow up with admissions? If you have, Im curious to know what they said, Im in a similar boat with another application. I just got my grades back and I couldnt update it on NursingCas since I submitted my application over a month ago, Im waiting to hear back from the school for further directions.

Thank you! Yes I think I have been doing my best to see it that way and also not get my hopes up at the same time. I just think if it's meant to be it will be so holding onto that. I tried reaching out to NursingCAS, and they weren't able to rush it. I am hoping it will be verified soon, but I am not sure. When I tried speaking to admissions they said the application no matter the circumstances could not be reviewed until it has been verified by NursingCAS. I did include an extra document in my app explaining the situation, especially considering my professor was about a week late uploading grades. Good luck to you too! I think it will be okay, if anything I knew it was important to get this grade in. We shall see! I will let you know if I hear anything else from JHU admissions regarding the issue.

I’m pretty sure it won’t close at 12:00AM. I’m in the same boat with someone finishing their letter submission tomorrow.
