Johns Hopkins DNP CRNA 2020

Updated:   Published

Here's a thread for anyone who may apply to be be selected to be in the first DNP cohort of the Nurse Anesthesiology program at Johns Hopkins to start May 2020, I hadn't seen one pop up yet.

Per the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs the site visit will take place this fall with an accreditation decision in Spring. As a JHUSON alum, I'm going to throw my proverbial hat in the ring, even with an accreditation decision pending for a new program.

Good luck to anyone else who may be applying. I've lived in Baltimore since I came her for school in 2008, so if anyone from outside of the area has questions about JHH, JHUSON or the city in general I'm happy to help! ?

I applied last minute submitted everything on 10/31 and I received and email today to interview and it will take place on Monday. I’m really happy that the interview is via web and I don’t have to travel to Maryland.

@LVSICURN I applied last minute too because I just reached a year and passed my CCRN in October. I interviewed via web today. Good luck!!

Hi everyone! I applied Nov 1. I just got confirmation (today) that all my material was received-I had a pending reference-and my application will be reviewed.

I'm hoping to land an interview. I missed the info session, and I was hoping some of you could share: are all interviews via phone/video or is there a face to face option?

Also, is the first fall semester online or am I misinterpreting the posted curriculum?

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

I think there is option for both video or In person interview.

I had similar issues. Submitted mine 10/30, was returned to me several days later due to a technical error. Freaked out for a few minutes, fixed, resubmitted, and then today I received an invitation to interview.

Got in elsewhere. Cancelled interview.

Good luck to everyone!!

Anyone worried about the accreditation status? It's worth worrying about.

I'm not. Years ago ODU in Virginia lost their accreditation and VCU helped the program graduate those students "stuck in limbo" and ODU regained their accreditation. I'm unaware of the details as to why ODU lost their accreditation but perhaps something to do with performance.

I'm not sure if Hopkins is launching this program and working with another University to get it started.

Regardless of how it's getting launched, I know several nurses who graduated from undergrad and grad programs from Hopkins and what I see is a bunch of nurses with awesome training. All great programs started somewhere and I think I just need to take a chance.

I also worked at Hopkins a few years ago as a traveler. When you're a traveler you see the good and the bad at a bunch of health systems and I liked the way they run things at Hopkins-so hopefully the same can be said of their programs in general.

I think it’s absolutely something to take into consideration when looking at schools and applying. I would not say it’s something that worries me, though.

Yes, Dr. Pellegrini (University of Maryland program director) has reportedly assisted with the JHSON program initiation, however I don't know how much of a hand he may have had in it or if it was just guidance.
