John Tyler - Fall 2016

Who is planning on applying for the JTCC programs for Fall, 2016?

I'm only applying to the hybrid track (thanks to my little kiddos at home, lol)!

Does anyone know if it's advantageous to apply to only one track or two both?

Mine says the same thing. I signed up for the test and study skills class which is only one credit and my breakdown says it costs $276.50. This doesn't make sense. I based all of my financial decisions based on the JTCC website that states tuition is just below $150 per credit. I truly hope this is fixed or is a mistake otherwise I'm going to have issues paying for my books on top of this...

I have spoken to a few other people, and on top of the higher tuition, another friend of mine is being charged twice for the same class with two different tuition rates. They are obviously experiencing some sort of technical difficulty at the cashiers office.

I'm officially not worried about it anymore. I will call on Monday, because everyone should do their due diligence and inundate them with phone calls until it is fixed. However, if somebody at John Tyler realizes the mistake earlier, it may be fixed over the weekend.

Just re-read the email about tuition sent out not too long ago and it says payments can't be made until Monday the 11th so maybe they are working out some kinks.

Side note: Is anyone using financial aid to get their books? I've never done this before so I'm not sure how it works, but the attachment about our textbooks sent in an email said if we use financial aid to get books we can't purchase them until August 15th. Will they be available that day? It also said something about picking up the books the first week of school. I know we will have assignments to do before the first day of class so I want to be sure I get everything on time.

Haha Hmfog sorry for the influx of responses, it seems we are posting at the same time so ignore any repetitiveness on my end!

Hah! Great minds think alike!

starting August 15, you can go to the bookstore with your schedule and your student number and purchase your books using financial aid funds. However, the bookstore is only authorized to use $1000 of financial aid funds, but can apparently get further authorization for the other $300 or so to make up the difference. But you'll likely have to pay for the HESI testing pack on your own they said. Next semster, the HESI pack and other supplies can be covered with financial aid funds since we won't have that huge cost of the book bundle from the first semester.

What assignments are we going to have?

I'll have to look back but I thought I remembered an email saying to look for some more information on August because there will be stuff we have to do before the first day- maybe reading?? If I find it I will post back.

And thanks for the book info - are the books usually available the day you go and pay? I'm planning on getting both the e-books and the hard copies because it's just easier for me to read with a book in my hand.

Found it! It says on our original orientation email attachment that there will be documents we need to submit on Blackboard prior to the first day of class. It is at the bottom of the orientation attachment under "important dates." We will have access to nursing courses on blackboard starting August 19th.

Cool, thanks! Glad it doesn't require us to get the books before we can use financial aid.

Good news! My tuitionappears to be correct now!

My tuition has also been adjusted!

Anyone else not fully covered for financial aid to buy their books? I would be covered if I could "borrow" financial aid from spring semester since we don't have to buy books then. Buying all of them at one time is kicking my butt! Plus getting a tablet, scrubs, shoes, CPR certification! I'm broke!

I'm also broke like it's my job. I am skipping the tablet for now, and will borrow my husband's iPad if I need it. If it becomes a thing I will buy one, but the students who talked to us at orientation made it seem like they weren't all that necessary.

Hey guys! for those of you who got in, what was your TEAS score? I got a 73% Adjusted individual score. I am thinking i may need to retake it after studying some more to get a higher score?
