Everyone ready?! I can't believe it is finally here! Less than 24 hours and we will have officially started nursing school!

Anyone know the time of our NUR 226 orientation on Monday? I know it is after the first orientation, could have sworn I saw it somewhere and now cannot find it! I got the printed versions too - thankfully the ebooks won't require me to lug them to class, but like some people said, I learn better if I have the book in hand!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who is feeling terrified!! Obviously I'm also extremely excited to get started but not truly knowing what is to come has got me nervous! I picked up my books today, all 30 pounds of them! Looks like we can kiss our social lives goodbye and accept that we will be reading during all of our "spare" time! Did anyone else in the traditional track see the email this morning about NUR 226? She said that if we are in the lecture group she was sending the email to, we should be signed up for the Thursday afternoon lab only, but I was under the impression from orientation, emails from another professor, and when I signed up for classes that we could also do Friday morning. Anyone else have any info or insight??

Almost forgot: any info on parking passes? I am in the middle of moving and cannot find my notes from orientation! I figured I would ask you guys before calling and bugging people at school :)

I know this is an old thread, but if anyone is still active here do you have any advice for a newbie to the program? I am starting my first semester August 22nd and couldn't be more excited/terrified!!!

Cmcmuffin: They didn't send me anything for my UDS either, I just did the live chat with someone and they got me situated. I had the same thing happen at LabCorp though, and they were concerned I was too hydrated, but turns out everything was fine and I didn't need to go back. I stopped on a Thursday I think to get my badge around one. I am not sure what the hours are, and could not find them anywhere on the website. Maybe try calling in the morning and seeing if someone will be there this week? As for the flu shot, I was also under the impression nothing needed to be done and we could essentially ignore the requirement, but just to be safe I signed the declination form and uploaded so I could see that nice "complete" checkmark! I am sure you would be fine not doing anything, but calling the nursing education center about it couldn't hurt.

I'll be doing some reading the week before as well. It is so frustrating that those of us using financial aid can't get books until the week before unless we have the cash to do so. I like to get ahead as much as possible, but like she said in the email, it will be so much information we might not retain it all. I'm so nervous about starting!! I just want to get the first day over with!! Sidenote: My influenza shot still says incomplete, and I know we aren't supposed to get it yet, but I want to be sure it shouldn't say anything other than that. Thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing hmfog. Not sure, I think we only wear scrubs to skills labs and clinicals, but I'm not 100%. Hoping they will send an email when it gets closer to starting with some information.

For something more inexpensive I love the Blue Sky planners. They sell them at Target and Walmart. I always get the monthly/weekly ones and write all of my assignments and to-do lists on the weekly layouts.

Does anyone know the hours for the nursing education center? I tried looking online but couldn't find it. I still haven't been to pick up my ID!

Hello BMommy5! Make sure to look at your National Composite Percentile, that is what they will use to rank you against other applicants. You need at least a 45 national composite percentile in every subject to apply. I scored a 98 for mine overall, I don't remember each subject's score though.

My tuition has also been adjusted! Anyone else not fully covered for financial aid to buy their books? I would be covered if I could "borrow" financial aid from spring semester since we don't have to buy books then. Buying all of them at one time is kicking my butt! Plus getting a tablet, scrubs, shoes, CPR certification! I'm broke!

Found it! It says on our original orientation email attachment that there will be documents we need to submit on Blackboard prior to the first day of class. It is at the bottom of the orientation attachment under "important dates." We will have access to nursing courses on blackboard starting August 19th.

I'll have to look back but I thought I remembered an email saying to look for some more information on August because there will be stuff we have to do before the first day- maybe reading?? If I find it I will post back. And thanks for the book info - are the books usually available the day you go and pay? I'm planning on getting both the e-books and the hard copies because it's just easier for me to read with a book in my hand.
