John Tyler - Fall 2016

Who is planning on applying for the JTCC programs for Fall, 2016?

I'm only applying to the hybrid track (thanks to my little kiddos at home, lol)!

Does anyone know if it's advantageous to apply to only one track or two both?

Yeah I'd have done that too but just don't have that much extra cash so I think I'll be reading alot at work the week before!

I'll be doing some reading the week before as well. It is so frustrating that those of us using financial aid can't get books until the week before unless we have the cash to do so. I like to get ahead as much as possible, but like she said in the email, it will be so much information we might not retain it all. I'm so nervous about starting!! I just want to get the first day over with!!

Sidenote: My influenza shot still says incomplete, and I know we aren't supposed to get it yet, but I want to be sure it shouldn't say anything other than that. Thoughts?

I went ahead and signed the declination to have it all completed but plan to get the shot anyway and upload it later, same with my B, my final shot isn't until November so I had to sign the declination

And I'm with you, I'm so nervous it's insane!! I just want to see what we're walking into here!

I went back and forth with CB over the flu shot. I was instructed to resubmit my physical examination form with "n/a" marked on the flu shot area. After that, I submitted a declination form, which they reviewed, and still required me to modify the physical form as noted. I would recommend resubmitting the physical with the flu shot field marked "n/a".

cmcmuffin,

Have you made any progress on your UDS? Did you log into CB and then select the UDS section of the to do list?

I called on Monday and they were able to register me for the UDS. I was on hold for 25 min. so if anyone else has to call, just be prepared they're super busy. They were really nice and didn't give me a reason for not sending me something sooner. I'm annoyed though because I walked into labcorp yesterday and they said I was to hydrated and might have to go back again to be tested. Which makes me nervous being so close to Friday. I had everything else done in May trying to avoid last minute stressors.

I thought we didnt didn't have to do anything else for the flu shot? I thought we could just ignore the requirement until the fall.

Also I thought we were able to go pick up our badges from the NEC but I went there on Monday.. The doors were locked and no one answered the phone. I left a voicemail but haven't heard anything back.

Well, for the flu shot, just go by whatever your to do list says on CB. Even without getting the flu shot, the category needs to be marked 'complete'. Then, once all categories show complete, your status will be 'compliant'.

Cmcmuffin:

They didn't send me anything for my UDS either, I just did the live chat with someone and they got me situated. I had the same thing happen at LabCorp though, and they were concerned I was too hydrated, but turns out everything was fine and I didn't need to go back.

I stopped on a Thursday I think to get my badge around one. I am not sure what the hours are, and could not find them anywhere on the website. Maybe try calling in the morning and seeing if someone will be there this week?

As for the flu shot, I was also under the impression nothing needed to be done and we could essentially ignore the requirement, but just to be safe I signed the declination form and uploaded so I could see that nice "complete" checkmark! I am sure you would be fine not doing anything, but calling the nursing education center about it couldn't hurt.

Almost forgot: any info on parking passes? I am in the middle of moving and cannot find my notes from orientation! I figured I would ask you guys before calling and bugging people at school :)

Hello, all! I have converted Module 1 reading to a pdf file, to help anyone interested in getting going but doesn't have the books yet. It is in a zip file and I will email it to you ... Just email me from your college email account to: [email protected]

I will be glad to do the same with the other modules from Ms. Powell's list, once I know the first module is successfully received and read by someone. Just do me a favor and keep this amongst our group of students.

Robert

I got mine from the business office on Campus in Midlothian! You could probably stop in and get yours at oritentation

One week to go! Are we ready ladies and gents?? All I have left to do is order my books which is tomorrow with financial aide! I am both terrified but monumentally pumped about getting started so I've been devouring books and articles about how to survive nursing school and have found some great ideas that I can hopefully implement and see which parts work for me! See you all Monday!
