I too loved John Q! Excellently done.....a MUST see...IMHO. :kiss
Personally, I AM for Universal Health Care Coverage so NO ONE goes without it. No patient should be denied treatment to the max based on his/her inability to pay for said treatment.
I agreed with the movie's portrayal of how our healthcare HMO system works in this country. It SUCKS big time!

I know I've seen this movie mentioned in other threads, but wanted to try to call everyone's attention to it. You may or may not agree with the movie's central message of "health care coverage for all." But the acting in this movie is superb, and Denzel Washington turns in his usual, Oscar quality performance.
But the reason for this post is the movie's portrayal of nurses. There are both male and female nurses. They are portrayed as intelligent professionals, whose role is central to patient care. They are also portrayed as compassionate, caring people, who couldn't care less about a patient's background or ability to pay. They are just there to care for the sick. It is an absolutely wonderful, as well as accurate portrayal.
I recommend this movie to all nurses. Yes, Hollywood screwed up some of the technical aspects of patient care. But the view of nurses in this movie will lift your spirits, and give you some hope that along the way, we will loose the image of simpletons, who stare in dewy eyed wonder at the physician. Somebody sees us as competent.
