Published

Hello everyone, I graduate in May of 2019 and I wanted to begin a forum for graduates applying to John Hopkins Hospital GN program.

My interview with the manager definitely lasted that long! It was also with two of the unit nurse educators. I did not have any scenario questions but did have ones questioning me on my personality and behavior as well as typical nursing interview questions (why nursing, why JHH, why this unit). With that being said, it was also pretty conversational and felt very comfortable!

Good luck!

Thank you! When I confirmed my interview with the office, and they said "We will see you at 0830 for some paperwork", I also found this odd for an interview day. What type of paperwork is this? I am taking my portfolio with me that will have my transcripts etc...

My interview lasted just a little over an hour! It was super chill! A lot better than what I was used to here in Dallas with about 10 people on a panel. I honestly didn't have any behavioral based questions. Although it was an interview it just flowed like a normal conversation. "Tell me why you chose nursing as your career", "So tell me about your work experience", "Tell me about your clinical experience", "Tell me what type of learner you are". Those were the type of questions I had instead of "Tell me about a time you had a difficult patient", etc. The "paperwork" before the interview is just them making copies of your resume. After that you'll go to the floor for your interview then your share time on the floor. Afterwards you'll have about an hour break. After your break you'll meet back at the nursing recruitment office with everyone that had/will have an interview that day and a nurse recruiter will talk about the next steps if extended an offer and also benefits. Then the recruiter will pull people one by one and discuss pay rate and potential start date based on when you graduated just in case an offer is extended.

Let me know if you have any questions! I'm wishing you the best of luck!!

Hello everyone! I just accepted an offer on the CVSICU at Johns Hopkins and will also be starting on August 5. I am relocating from Michigan. I've heard that Federal Hill is a great place to live for new graduates. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I will also be looking for a roommate if anybody else is also in need of one!! Let me know. ?

Hi!! Yes, I think that would be great! Does it allow you to message me directly? I am not able to message people for some reason.

It doesn’t allow me either for some reason! I’ve never tried

Anyone else just super concerned about their safety? I'm choosing not to take my car with me because the apartment I chose to go with charges a extra $175 a month for parking. So I'll most likely use Lyft, Uber, and/or public transportation.

Maybe we could start a FB page for the new grads going to Hopkins? I have heard that some groups have done that in the past.
