Hello everyone, I graduate in May of 2019 and I wanted to begin a forum for graduates applying to John Hopkins Hospital GN program.

I did! I will be starting in the MICU in Aug and have no ICU experience. I had step down (IMCU) clinical experience which was 90 hours. And worked as a student nurse on a med-surg floor. If you’re really interested id reach out to the nurse recruiters at the hospital you’re interested in, they usually have a better sense of the nurse managers on certain floors and can give you some guidance ?

I received a call from nurse recruitement with an offer the day after I interviewed! But I also had interviewed at another JH location and they seemed to take a little longer to reach out post interview!
Hi everyone! I applied on Oct. 20th for the New grad residency at the pediatric med-surg unit. On Oct. 22nd, I saw that it was "forwarded to department for consideration". How long does it usually take to receive an email to schedule an interview? And how does that work? I'm a new nurse with no luck with residency programs here in Miami so I decided to pursue a dream to work with Johns Hopkins. I saw that a couple of comments addressed the "forwarded" status but I wanted to see if anyone is currently on the same boat with me. Good luck to everyone!

I applied first week of Oct & got an email requesting references via a third party website on 10/21. My status was changed to “initiated contact to schedule an interview”, but I have not heard anything about scheduling and interview yet. Maybe it’s something similar? Did you do the references or get that email? I’m guessing this email is sent prior to scheduling an interview. Also, what your position for a specific cohort? My posting mentioned it was for Feb/March 2020 cohort. My unit I applied for is Cardiovascular Surgical ICU
I haven’t received any new emails yet. My status still says “forwarded to department for consideration.” The previous comments do say that it can take a couple of days to receive a new email about the interviews. As for the cohort, the position I applied to doesn’t state it but I think it might be for March as well.

It’s still “initiated contact to schedule interview”, it changed to that on 10/21 when they reached out to me for references. I assume it’ll change either once’s it’s schedule or after I complete an interview. I actually don’t think I ever saw the “forwarded to department for consideration status.” It went straight from “under review” to this.

I would have to agree with this, if you had experience as a Tech or Intern in an ICU but didn't get placed in one for your capstone you would probably be fine but if you don't have any ICU experience at all it would be pretty hard! However-- who really knows!! Go for it, the worst they can tell ya is no ?
