to my fellow nurses, don't be discouraged. there are still jobs out there. just hang in there, market yourselves, make alotof follow up calls, send resumes with cover letters just DON'T QUIT! i only had a vlunteer training in a hospital for 3 months and a private duty nursing for 1 year. not very much hospital-like work. i sent out resumes through hospital web, and actually, i posted the resume on every area available within my capabilities. bombarded hr with resumes and cover letters hahaha! follow up, leave messages on their machine, they will remember you for the nurse who bugs HR and nurse who doesnt quit, wink! got 2 calls within 5 minutes today for interview. so just sharing my thoughts, hospitals still hiring, dont lose hope, show them you can and be conident. God bless us and God bless America!

I agree there are still jobs out there. I graduate in May with my RN. Since the hospital in my area is on a hiring freeze, I applied at a LTC as a LPN. I was hired for weekends as a LPN with the agreement that I would have a full-time RN position once I graduate. It was a win-win situation. They are using my LPN status to train me for my RN position later. This way I have a job now, and they can train me without paying the RN rate. This isn't my dream job, but it will get me some experience and help pay the bills. Good luck to everyone looking for jobs.
