  1. Hi Peeps! I'm currently on my very first assignment here in LA. Wootwoot! at last! Missing home but enjoying the adventure! I'm getting ready for my next contract (36 hours a week) and im planning and looking into getting a per diem in the Bay Area. Need some advice from ya'll though. =D and thanks in Advance.Which would be better to bring more money into the pocket. Per diem thru the agency I am with for the contract in San Fo,or apply for a per diem directly in a hospital. How does Per Diem really work ? Thanks a bunches!!!!
  2. Hi all! Finally, I got all my courage to get out of my confort zone.Got my first travel job at UCLA-Ronald Regan. My problem now is the housing. How did you guys find your own housing? What are should I stay away from in LA? Any tips about housing in the area...? Thank you so much! I only have 2 weeks left!!!
  3. Wha area wil you be interviewed for? UMC people are nice. Might stay with them for a long while...
  4. Hallo! Got a job at the UMC. Base pay is $19. And if you have work exp it'll go higher but you really need to present a work experience cert. Added $1.52 for 2 years. Work is busy but am lovin it. No sign on bonus though. River Oaka has sign on bonus of $4000 or $5000 for 3 years i think. I already threw he papers for that so im not sure. MS still has nursing shortage. To new grads, don't lose hope. God bless!
  5. Hi aussieginnie, there are some jobs jackson... I got interviewed the other week for an OR position in Baptist. As much as i would love tod go to the OR, it will take several more weeks for the NM to decide since there are also candidates. I got a job an another hospital who offered the job right off interview. And dont wanna let go of that sure opportunity...have you tried applying on hospital websites? Am wishing you guys the best! God bless!
  6. Last response was from last year? Gonna get my questions ready! Keep posting here!
  7. Gosh! Am blessed then! Got a job at a big teaching hospital, it is just overwhelming though...and feel i dunno anything....
  8. Music in my heart, thank you so much too! It makes me feel really fortunate to have a hospital setting job. I'm looking forward to Monday! God bless us all!
  9. Thank you so much! I'll stick with this job and work really hard... =D
  10. Hi llg, thank you so much for your reply...it actually made me feel better. Yea, its a good starting point to work in the MS. I want to keep my word with my employer and dont want prospective employers left hanging as well. Thank you for the reply...
  11. The MS NM gave me a call yesterday abt when i should start working. I was hoping the background check will take longer so as to stall and wait for the OR interview result. I really really want the OR job... Like really, i couldnt sleep last night thinking abt it. I called the OR NM yesterday and asked abt the status and she told me that it will take couple of more weeks bfore she can decide. 2 slots and 7 applicants. I was the first to be interviewed. I told her i already accepted another job amd thanked her for the time and opportunity . And i don't know my status with the OR so I accepted the MS job since they offered it at the end of the interview and with the economy, i dont want to lose a sure job. Im thinking of sending the OR nurse manager an email... do you think the OR NM will still consider me in the future when i apply?Do you hink they will allow nurses to hve 2 fulltime jobs...? I really really passionately want to work in the OR and dont wanna let go of this dream and chance.... Thank you...
  12. The Nurse Manager for medsurg at a hospital where I applied for called yesterday and told me all background checks are clear and that she is going to send something in the mail for other requirements and asked when can I start with the orientation, i was silent for a minute and she asked how about next week, so i blurtd out Yes.... The thing is i wanted this job at the OR in the other hospital where I got interviewed last week. I gave the OR nurse manager a call and ask about the status of my interview and I get a chance or not. Shetold me it will be another couple of weeks before she can make any decision since she still needs to interview other nurses. So since we were on the phone, I told her I already accepted another job and so they can consider other nurses for the position. And she thanked me for letting her know and for considering their hospital. After thanking we said bye bye. And last night i couldnt sleep thinking about that job. But i don't want to lose a sure employment...im emotionally confused about what i want and what i have... Do you guys think an OR nurse manager will still accept me in the future if I apply for that position again? The HR in that hospital even told me i was so lucky to be even invited for an interview...i still want that job....what do you think should i do...? Thank you for the replies...
  13. Hi! I got an interview the same day as my interview with the Nurse Manager. In the peer interview, other staff nurses will be with you in the room asking any questions from your experiences, about you and even unrelated stuff. Got questions about what cases have i handled to if i have a pet cat or dog. Don't be nervous, its gonna be somewhat casual. Be confident and good luck!
  14. Is it possible to take 2 fulltime jobs? 12 hr shifts. 3-2's?
  15. I had my interview yesterday (dream job) in another area in the same hosp i will be interviewing on Thursday. I would love to wait for the result of that interview but dont wanna risk losing a job in a hospital which i'm thinking about going to later...
