i have been searching online for lvn/lpn jobs in northern cali (preferably outpatient care, clinics or doctors offices) im a new grad and most jobs want you to have at least a years exp. has anyone found a job in northern cali in cities like the bay area, sacramento, concord, etc. that does not require expereince, if so please let me know the name of the place, the city and the pay. thanks so much
p.s. do you think i could use me one year of clinical exp from school as a refrence for all these jobs who require you to have exp. ?

i lived in concord and currently live in sacramento. as far as new grads go, it is difficult to get a job with no experience. i don't know much about lvn, because i m a rn-new grad. all the jobs on the web site will say at least 1yr experience. i don't think clinical experience counts becasue you were not on your own. you were a student. it doesn't for us, but you sure can write it on your resume. you should call the hospitals and get in touch with the lvn recruiter. call the hr department and they will give you the number.there are many kaisers in bay area along with other hospitals. hope this helps and good luck

Training that you did in school, or working as an CNA while you were in school, is not the same as experience as an LVN and will not be considered by an employer as having that.
In the Bay Area, you do not see jobs being offered for LVNs in most hospital settings, they are actually being phased out as per the union contracts. Nursing homes are hiring.

I agree with Suzanne4, LVN's are being phased out. Major hospitals just want RNs. Also, the year of clinical experience at school does not count. BTW, I tried to send you a pm, but your mailbox is full.

Hope the OP has found a position by now. If you really want to work, the easiest places to find a job are the nursing homes. Next to that, sometimes you can find home health agencies that are willing to hire people without experience. As far as hospitals go, it is almost impossible to find a hospital position in NorCal for an LVN, unless you try the Kaiser facilities. With Kaiser, it is difficult to find full time work; most of their advertised openings are for on call or part time. Good luck.

Try Enloe Medical center in Chico, Ca (1.5 hours north of Sacto) they have LVN jobs occasionally
