  1. Go to http://www.enloe.org to apply online....
  2. 4th floor Med/Surg Oncology and Pediatrics you can choose to focus on Oncology or Pediatrics. For Pediatrics you will need to take PALS and for Oncology I think you have to work there a year and then they will get you Chemo certified. Before you have either of those certifications you will work in the middle area which consists of mostly Oncology patients with various medical concerns and Pulmonology patients (COPD, Asthma, etc.).
  3. 12 hour shifts 7 to 730. I started out at 33.09 but I think it might have gone up now. The night shift differential is around 2.50 and weekend differential of 1.50. There is a night shift bonus of 500 for every 120 hours worked on the night shift. They also offer a sign on bonus and relocation assistance. My friends and I moved there from a different area and they had no problem hiring us. They also offer $250 per month student loan repayment after 6 months employment with a year commitment and they will continue to pay as long as you work there. They also pay $200 toward NCLEX review course and bonuses for extra shifts worked. Pretty sweet deal!
  4. Susan Finck, Nurse Recruiter 530.332.7047 or email: [email protected]. It probably took 3 weeks or so from putting in my application to getting the job. They are VERY new grad friendly. The hospital is small about 400 beds but is currently under construction to expand. They have a great new grad program that takes about 6 weeks where you are going to skills lab as well as working on the floor with a preceptor. I worked on the 4th floor and the staff was very welcoming to me. I have classmates that are working on every floor and everybody has had a great experience. I worked nights and had 3 to 5 patients and usually there would be 1 to 2 CNA's working nights. There is a night time educator available to help you out with anything too.
  5. I started working there as a new grad so I can answer any questions you might have.
  6. There are lots of new grad positions just posted at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA. It's an hour and a half drive from Sac. I know new grad jobs are hard to come by these days.
  7. Many new grads from my graduating class got hired on at Mad River and St. Joseph's Eureka. Sutter Coast in Crescent City hires new grads too. I was offered new grad positions at Fremont/Rideout in Yuba City and Enloe in Chico.
  8. Have you considered moving to a different area? They need nurses in Humboldt Co. Try Mad River or St. Josephs...
  9. Does the hospital in Kauai have Peds ICU? How many beds on the PICU or peds floor? Is Wilcox a good hospital to work for? What is the average pay for RN's and how are the benefits? Mahalo for any information you can provide.
  10. I agree with RNnewgrad too. I was hired on at Kaiser as a Pharmacy Tech awhile ago and after their pre-employment physical I was notified that I had Hep-C. After much time freaking out I was retested by my doctor and it was false. I don't know if they mixed up my labs with somebody else or it was a false positive but I decided not to work there after that. I also had a customer once that had spent all day there for observation because he was given the wrong IM injection. Needless to say he was very upset! Hopefully that is not the norm but enough to worry me. Personally I would recommend working for Sutter. It doesn't seem like they are too new grad friendly though??
  11. Do you want to work in SNF or did you take the job because you couldn't find anything else? I know it is difficult to find a job in Sacramento area. Are you able to relocate?
  12. Sounds like she needs to take care of her own issues before she is given the responsibility of caring for others.
  13. I graduated in May...a few months before my 30th birthday. I started my pre-reqs when my son was 6 months old and now he will be 6 in a few months! It was a long road but now I am seeing the benefits. I definitely think you are NOT too old! Go for it!
  14. Thanks for your reply VORB! I found out today that I got the job I applied for!!!
