All things considered... pay, ratios, acuity, opportunity to use your skills, co-workers, management, etc... what you say your overall satisfaction with your job is?

This poll could have an overall amt of disproportionate views of the nsg community overall, because it is polling individuals who are reading about nsg in their spare time. These are for the most part people who love nsg. Nonetheless it is wonderful to see that there are that many people who love nsg out there.

Good point. I used to love my job and I hope to love it again one day.

I voted high because at this time I absolutely love my job. I can't say that for previous ones though!

I truely love my job. 15 years on a med surg floor as an LPN. I am blessed to be able to help patients and their family members through a tought time in their life. I love getting to know my patient's, everyone has their own unique incredible story. The staff that I work with is for the most part very professional and the docs are incredible. There has not been one day in my career that I did not look forward to going to work. Hope it continues!!!!

A few weeks ago I would have voted average because earlier this year we got better ratios and finally I beginning to like my job.

However, a few weeks ago they changed the staffing pattern to safe money because apparently the hospital is in dire straights because this summer's census is lower than budgeted (summer is the slow "off-season" in this part of Florida). My job satisfaction has plummetted the last few weeks and I'm very unhappy with my job right now. I promised myself ealier this year to keep this job until I finish my BSN and I'm still hoping to do that but things are looking grim right now.

At present "high"............although last September I was seriously considering leaving, possibly without notice. But the admin finally saw what was going on around him ( after half the staff either went to him or mailed anon. letters) and canned the DON.

I'd never worked with such a pathologically toxic boss......... our new DON is one of the best I've ever worked with.

It's amazing how much difference one person can make.

I know the feeling. My "toxic" boss was canned a few weeks ago and I am not sure he ever had a clue as to why because of the arrogance. He couldn't even log on to anywhere but email. Couldn't even operate vital sign machine. I know that most DON's don't do the everyday stuff, but hopefully they know how or are at least willing to try. :madface:

I vote average also as I sometime will have a good day with my patient and sometime not. All is depends where I was placed to work. If I work in high dependency unit, I will feel stress as I only will work alone with 4 patient. these 4 patient will be very ill and need full attention. sometime I just will feel like crazy to attend to patient. Not to said I don't want to attend their call but I just too busy for 4 patient and they are really high dependency. the work load is too much but the management of the hospital do nothing.
