Anyone actually get a call back after applying? My goodness! I have applied for so many Attendent jobs and not once call back. I even applied for a job in laundry (It makes more then the group home I am currently working with) and nothing. I really dont think that many people could be applying as its a pretty small community... I have to stop and wonder if they are just placing adds for the fun of it.

I've just heard that they are only hiring internal applicants for UNE positions right now (U of A, not sure about other sites), so good luck to anyone that is not already working for AHS :(

Our hospital here in the north east rural Alberta is looking for RN's. They've had posting after postings but have had no luck.

Rural areas are always short and always hiring. There is no draw for people to move to rural areas. I'm looking to move, even if that means working less in a city. We have had positions open for 7 months with no success. AHS needs to either step up the marketing of rural areas or start hiring contract nurses again.

Have you been reading these threads on AHS? There's an informal hiring freeze! But in answer to your last question, AHS does require certification for nursing assistants. Last year every non-certified NA in the province was required to take a course and become certified to keep their jobs - even those who have been doing that job for 30 years.

Oh I see... I'm just confuse because until now they keep on posting jobs in their website. Thanks!

They have to post vacancies for existing positions - that's a clause in all of the collective agreements they have with the different unions (UNA, AUPE, CUPE, HSAA). BUT... there's nothing in any of the contracts that says they have to FILL the postings. And they aren't filling a lot of them. They're stretching the staff they already have. My unit runs on overtime. There are very few shifts where we don't have at least a couple of people on OT, sometimes 6 or 7 and we're still working short.

Now I know. Thank you for that info.

I had an interview this morning for LPN position in Alberta Health Services, after my interview, my interviewer ask for my SIN and License number and showed me a sample of how the orientation would go, is this a good indication that I may get a job offer?

Usually that's a pretty good indication that you're gonna get it. May I ask which hospital you interviewed at?

Thank you. I was interviewed at Foothills Hospital, I'm crossing my fingers right now as my interviewer mentioned to me that she has to interview 5 more applicants. What's giving me hope is that she ask for SIN, License and date of birth:)

I work at foothills too. I am trying to apply to other units but I heard nobody was hiring much. So that's good to hear. What area are you applying for?

I wouldn't put too much stock in being asked for your SIN, licence number and DOB. That sort of info is usually part of the screening process.
