Hello all - I'm graduating this May with a BSN, and I need to get a job. However, I know for a fact that my husband's job will force us to move in 4 months time. So what should I do? Here are all of the options I've heard from peers/RNs/mentors:
- Get a part time job somewhere else and just volunteer at a hospital
- Get a job without a contract and don't tell them you'll be moving
- Get a job as a tech for the summer
- Get a job at a doctor's office for the summer (some say as a secretary, others say just to get a normal RN job but don't tell them you'll be moving)
Basically, I'm at a loss. I'll be a brand new nurse, and I don't want to wait 4 month until we move to use my skills, but I also feel bad getting hired somewhere and leaving right after they really finish training me. Advice?

If you know where you are moving, just apply to those areas; from interview to new hire process that can last 2-4 months.

Are you moving 4 months from now or 4 months after graduation?
4 months from now brings you to the end of July. Depending on your state, you may not be taking the NCLEX until June or July anyway. If the case is 4 months from now, just job search where you'll be moving. As the PP stated, hiring is a lengthy process and sometimes a job may not start for several more months after the offer is extended.
I won't be moving until 4 months after graduation - sometime between September and October. The problem is that my husband will have no idea where he will be moving to until then. He's an air traffic controller and will not be told his new location until he graduates the academy in September. Could be anywhere in the US
You still have time; it took me 8 months until I started my first RN job-from interviews until orientation.
Focus on passing the NCLEX, then apply locally and nationally and see what happens.
