I posted a while ago in the Illinois section. No reply so I thought I'd see if it was just because its just not an active area or if there is no one on here from JJC. So anyway, anyone put in their application during the Aug 1st-15th open application? I applied for the night program and am currently waiting for an email saying they have accepted my application and when the TEAS test dates are.
I'd love to meet some other JJC students. If we get into the program we can set up study groups. By the way I've been through the first semester (long story, don't want to repeat what I've already posted here). I can share my experience.
If no one applies I'll assume the new applicants haven't found this great site yet:D
As far as financial aid goes apply anyway!! it cant hurt..i still do. As far as tuition..first semester it was in the ballpark of $1,200 not including books..books ran me about $600 maybe slightly less (craziness) 2nd semester tution was a little over $1,000 books cost me about $300..Also factor in the lab coat and scrubs which if you buy one set and the lab coat should be about $65. I totally suggest looking into the books elsewhere such as amazon or even barnes n noble..whatever your poison may be because they are VERY expensive. They do have the FACTS payment plan which can be very helpfull in paying the tution and the payments are reasonable.
What else would you like to know?
Wow, loving all the info!! Thanks again, lilwannabeRN!! I talked to someone in the Nursing dept. today and she confirmed that we DO NOT have a choice as far as what sections we get. It is all predetermined before we get to registration. She said that in the past, they did use a lottery system, but no more!!
It does kind of stink that we don't get to choose, but i suppose that's life. You will figure out a way to manage your time and make it work..i still managed to keep my job (part time) and work 20-25 hours and still have a life on top of school. So it is very possible. And you are more than welcome for the info! I am more than happy to share an info or give a heads up on things! Knowing someone a semester or so ahead of you can be very beneficial. Feel free to post or PM if you like!
I really should be in bed i have clinicals in the AM..i figured i should give you the heads up to. Get your CPR for healthcare providers as soon as you can..it will be one less thing you have to worry about come November and your orientation. Also, they will give you a sheet that you need to have filled out by your Dr. including a physical, immunity titers for things like chickenpox and rubella..also a 2-step TB test and you will also have to go for a drug screening. You will also have to make a copy and have proof of health insurance. Most of this isnt stuff you will have to worry about until closer to the semester starting but a heads up never hurts. :stdnrsrck:
I usually see people at school in either white pants and maroon tops or white pants and light blue tops. I think the people in the blue tops may be radiology students, because when I went to the nursing information meeting there were maroon lab coats there and the lady conducting the meeting said that those were for the nursing class that started this fall.
The lottery was too difficult and problematic, that's why they do it all themselves now. You do not have to purchase your scrubs the day of orientation (maroon or white) but you do have to purchase the lab coat because it's JJC logo. Scrubs are expensive the day of orientation, you can get them elsewhere as long as they're the right colors.
Just to add to the previous post. You do not have to get your scrubs or order them from the school, Life Uniform(for example) has a decent selection of the maroon and white scrubs that you will need. You don't have to purchase the lab coat the day or orientation either though..you can wait and go to the Life Uniform store at the mall in Joliet and they will have the jacket as well as the patch that belongs on it.

I need to figure out how much it cost too. Is it still considered 8 credits? 8x$103/per credit, plus fees? Plus books, ugh! I'm pretty sure I don't qualify for any financial aid this time around. Pell grant I miss you!
