JJC Nursing Program: Fall of 2015

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, ya'll! I just thought I would try to connect with any other hopefuls that are going to attempt to be accepted into JJC's Nursing program for Fall of 2015. Was curious as to how you are all feeling about your possibility of being accepted. (I.e teas score, pre-reqs, gpa, etc.)

Hope to meet some new friends to share this journey with! Any other "seasoned" nursing students that read this, care to shed some light on what I should be preparing myself for?

Also, she said only a little over 10% of the applicant pool got an 80+ on their TEAS, so our chances are awesome! :-)

OMgsh, really?! That is so exciting! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh! Now, hopefully all 10% didn't want evening program...

You ladies have absolutely nothing to worry about. Your scores are amazing and they take about 25-30 for the evening program. Even if all 10ish% of the qualified applicants wanted the evening program, you all would get in because that'd be about 20 of you. But, most people prefer days. I'm so excited for you guys!! Now....start studying! :-P lol jk

JMarie,

Thanks for boosting my hopes! :) I was told that there is ONLY room for 24 in the evening program so hopefully there's room for me! Trust me, if I could go out and buy my books right now, I would! I would be studying right now! LOL

Hi everybody, I met with Jorie on Thursday to talk about my admittance to the nursing program in Spring 2016, but she ended up giving me some information about the applicants of this semester. She said they accepted 96 people, and of the 96, 56 of them scored above 80 on their TEAS. The rest were under 80 and were accepted still. The average TEAS test score this semester she said was 76. Hope this helps ease your minds!

Thank you, breezy96.

I'm a bit confused. I was told only a little above 10% of the applicants got over an 80 on the TEAS. That aside, all 'qualified candidates' who scored under an 80 are still awaiting their email with further instructions on essays, etc. How, then, could they have already made their final decision? I guess time will tell...

Now hopefully not all 56 needed an evening class spot...

Monac,

I got confused reading that post as well, but I think she is referring to the students that are in THIS semester, Spring of 2015. So, all the ones who applied last August. At least this is what I am hoping since the information is so far off from what we were told.

Is this correct, Breezy?

@Monac,

I got worried when everyone was receiving more emails from JJC regarding the essay and such. I called the nursing department, and they congratulated me on my acceptance into the program. :) They said there were 34 of us that were in the guaranteed category, and we should be receiving our emails later this afternoon with more information. That is 10 more people than available spots in the evening program, but Paul said it should work out just fine! Fingers crossed! Congratulations on your acceptance and I look forward to meeting you in the future!

Laurynq16,

Are you serious???!!!!! Thank you for the good news!

It would really make my day; I finally got that nasty bug that's been floating around and have a splitting headache. Ugh.

I am so serious! I began typing to you the second I got off of the phone. I am on day two of a nasty headache, so it was a very welcomed surprise for me as well. :) Just check your email from JJC later this afternoon, and hopefully we both make it into the evening program.

Alright! :-) Well, I look forward to that email and to meeting you!

I got into the evening program for Fall 2015!!!!! Words cannot describe how excited I am!!!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!!
