JJC Nursing Program: Fall of 2015

Published

Hi, ya'll! I just thought I would try to connect with any other hopefuls that are going to attempt to be accepted into JJC's Nursing program for Fall of 2015. Was curious as to how you are all feeling about your possibility of being accepted. (I.e teas score, pre-reqs, gpa, etc.)

Hope to meet some new friends to share this journey with! Any other "seasoned" nursing students that read this, care to shed some light on what I should be preparing myself for?

Nevermind, I just re-read the rubric. I think I have a good grasp on what to write about

@teteab03 How did it go? Do you feel confident?

I think it went ok. I wrote 3 paragraphs. Hopefully it was a good length. Im nervous. How do you think you did?

Mine definitely wasn't great, just ok. For some reason I couldn't focus. I'm just hoping that my TEAS, GPA, and all that jazz make up for it.

It was hard to focus. I was nervous during it.

I was reading posts from last year and emails went out April 2nd. I hope we get our emails around the same time :)

I'm really sorry that I never got alerted that there was more messages on this thread! How did the essays go?

From what we were told, there was only about 10% of us that scored above an 80 on the TEAS.

Keep us posted, and good luck! Look forward to meeting you all soon! :)

I think I did ok on the essay. I read it 100 times before I submitted it. I tripled checked for errors.

I am still stressing. I dont have my CNA license, I did average on my TEAS, my GPA is awesome. I just don't have a good feeling or even a bad feeling. I just don't know.....

I did my essay on the last day and time that they allowed us to and there were only 3 other people with me. I think I did ok, my biggest issue was I felt pretty nervous and like I was going to run out of time that I probably didn't edit it as well as I should have but I tried my best. The proctor told our group that we should look for an email saying whether or not we got in around April 9-10th or shortly after that.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to touch base with you, because I remember how stressed I was when I was trying to get into the RN program at JJC. The entry has changed a bit, but the stress appears to still be the same. I just wanted to remind you all of how hard you have worked to get to this point, and that it is no small feat. Regardless of the outcome...keep your heads held high, and remain positive. You have come this far, because you are ALL smart, and have worked really hard. I am gearing up for my second leg of the first semester in the RN program after spring break. It has been insane, but well worth the effort. If this is what you really want to do then do not ever give up! I know first hand how much stress is involved with the whole process, but I can tell you all that sometimes you have to STOP and remind yourself that you are smart, talented, and have come this far-and not by chance. If you stress every single second then you miss the proverbial ride so to speak. So just remember to take a little time for yourself now and then. Your hard work will pay off, and never ever give up on your dreams of being an R.N. :nurse:

Thank you so much for stopping by, Student4u2! Do you have any tips, etc on how we can prepare and such? I know we go on the 5th of May for registration, but I am trying to decide if I need to start thinking about organization, supplies and all that ahead of time, or if we will just get a huge lump of information on this date. How is your first semester? Harder than you thought? I'm so excited to be starting in August but so nervous at the same time!

I have to take Micro over the summer since it's the only class I haven't taken for graduation. Has anybody had Kim Dyer as a teacher? That is who I signed up for ( night class) but there is a few open with Professor Crump and I hear mixed things about both. I am petrified of this class as is. LOL

Thanks for taking the time to encourage us Student4u2! Lauryn I have to take Micro too. I have to take it during the day though. I signed up for Cocoran, I believe was the last name. However, if I don't get into the program Im going to drop the summer Micro class and take it in the fall. I heard Bellas was awesome, however I needed the second session of summer and he was only teaching the first session. I have not heard about Dyer.
