Hi, ya'll! I just thought I would try to connect with any other hopefuls that are going to attempt to be accepted into JJC's Nursing program for Fall of 2015. Was curious as to how you are all feeling about your possibility of being accepted. (I.e teas score, pre-reqs, gpa, etc.)

Hope to meet some new friends to share this journey with! Any other "seasoned" nursing students that read this, care to shed some light on what I should be preparing myself for?

I'm hoping for a positive outcome. I'm just worried hearing there are 232 applicants. Has anyone checked out Moraine Valley? I was just on their website, their deadline is March 15. I wonder if I would have to take the teas exam again or if they could use my jjc one?

I think each school wants you to take the TEAS at their facility, but I am not sure. I know that even if you had taken the TEAS at a different place, you had to re-take it at JJC. I have never checked out Moraine Valley because it's just too far away from where I live. I did check into Chamberlain College of Nursing in Tinley, but just cannot bring myself to pay 60k. It's 87k if you have to take all 3 years there. I only need 2, but 60k and all year round ( three trimesters instead of two semesters) just doesn't work for me with having three children.

If Moraine is an option for you, I would do what ever you needed to and re-take your TEAS over there to apply. You may get into both programs and then have a choice for which one works better for you ;)

Hello! I applied for the nursing program at JJC for the fall as well and I thought I'd chime in. I got a 79.3% on my TEAS, I know it's so painful to be so close to guaranteed admission, but it not happening because of what was probably 1 or 2 stupid mistakes on questions. I underestimated the math portion, even though I scored high on the practices the actual test was more challenging to me. Anyways, I have a 4.0 gpa and my advisor was pretty confident that I will be accepted so I'm not beating myself up too much over it.. at least not yet. She said that most of the time the people that score 80 or greater have taken the test multiple times and since this was my first time taking it I did very well. So if you are in the same boat as me you are in good company.

Hi, Kinsaur! Welcome to our thread! Congratulations on rocking your TEAS. When I took my TEAS for the first time I got a 79.3% as well! How crazy is that? I took it again this semester for a second time and was able to raise my score to an 81%. Is it crazy that with the 81%, a 4.0, and all pre-reqs completed I am STILL not sure if I will get in or not? This is the longest wait EVER. I have a meeting with an adviser on Monday and am hoping to find out perhaps what average TEAS scores were, or how many applicants were actually categorized as "qualified" to move forward in the selection process.

If you don't mind me asking, why didn't you apply with your first TEAS score? Or was it that it wasn't enough to get you in? I wouldn't worry, I'm pretty confident that you will get. Let me know what the advisor says please!

Hi Monac, I also am going to be meeting with Jorie as well! I have a lot of questions but I don't want to bombard her with thousands of them so I was wondering if you could answer one for me. If I take the TEAS test this semester (Spring 2015) and do fairly well, can I use my score this semester when applying for the program Summer 2015?

Absolutely. And I'd give it your best shot on the TEAS! :-) Another tip is to take it early enough to where you can take it again Summer semester if you need to take another stab at the TEAS.

Jorie is really great. I had a ton of questions and she's really comfortable to talk to.

Hi Kinsaur,

I had taken my TEAS in 2011 before I started the Radiology program at JJC. Since I am now just returning to school, I thought it was best to at least try a second time and shoot for a higher score for a shot at "guaranteed" admission. This is my first time applying for the nursing program, so it's all new to me! I will def. let you know what I find out. :)

It's definitely a great idea to take early to have the second shot before applying as Monac said. This way, you can review your report from ATI and it tells you key areas to focus some extra studying in. Your TEAS scores stay on your transcript, so they will look at the highest score no matter when it was from. Good luck!

Has anyone here completed Microbiology already at JJC? ( 240) I met with an advisor yesterday and she suggested I take it this summer so that I am not trying to complete it while in the Nursing program. I am worried that since I am not currently enrolled I will not be able to get into a class since I will be allowed to register after everyone else has already snatched up the classes. Anyone have recommendations on a teacher?
