Jeff State Fall 2013 hopefuls

Published

Hi Everyone,

I just applied to The RN program at Jeff State and I wanted to get a thread going for other Fall 2013 hopefuls. If you're like me, the next couple months of waiting is going to be torture and I just thought it would be helpful to have somewhere to go to help pass the time with others in our situation :) I'm pretty optimistic and think I have a good chance, but you just never know! What kind of scores did everyone apply with? I wonder what the cutoff will be? I was told it could be late July before we hear anything...anyone hear something different? Also, who is applying for part-time and who is applying for full-time?

Look forward to meeting you all and GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE!

I just need to know how. I am moving the last week of June and the last time I updated my address it wasn't done so if its by letter I am concerned that I may not get it. That's all. I don't think we should have to wait this long but I wouldn't bug her. I don't think it's solely based on points because if it was they should be able to do it more quickly. Just sayin.

They don't do it just based on the points, they calculate everyone's GPA on the last 25 hours and drop you if it lower than 2.5

They will call and make sure you want to accept your spot. It is based on a lot of things and you would be surprised at the number of people who apply but don't qualify. They have to make sure your GPA is at least 2.5, that you have taken all of your required classes, and that you've taken the TEAS test. Plus they are having to go through 1,000 + applications. Be patient with them and enjoy your summer while you can.

My GPA is 3.8 and I have taken teas and all pre- reqs. We all know what the requirements are and if people are stupid enough to still apply that's why it takes so long. I am trying to be patient it has almost been a month already. If they would say" you should hear by this day...." Then I would feel better. Everyone I have talked to was told a different timeframe. It's just frustrating because of the stress of moving too. Sorry to vent y'all I just wish we didn't have to wait so long and put our lives on hold. I haven't even thought about what I will do If I don't get in because I have been trying to figure out what to do if I do.

I was given incorrect information last year when I applied and was one of those "stupid" enough to apply without meeting the requirements. Of course, I met the "requirements" of the temporary adviser that I spoke with who didn't know what the hell she was talking about. So, while I understand where you're coming from on that issue, it's not as clear cut as you're making it out to be. I can honestly say I've never been given so much incorrect advice from someone whose job it was to just advise students on classes. Sadly, I'm not alone, but there's not a damn thing I can do about it.

Even to get my letter of denial last year took six weeks. So, you should expect to hear something at or after the six week mark. Sucks we have to wait but they are understaffed.

Dhies, I am so sorry for the way I wrote that it wasn't intended to offend anyone. I wasn't talking about the people who get wrong info from advisors, because I know how that is and have myself. I know a girl who only has a 2.4 GPA and was like well I am gonna try and see what happens. She knows the requirements but hopes she'll get lucky. That's what I was referring to and that does slow the process. Sorry if I offended anyone! I didn't mean to.

Well here's a bit of advice for anyone who thought, "what the heck, I'll just go ahead and get my CPR out of the way now...since it's good for two years and all". Don't. I spoke w/ the head of the night/weekend program a couple days ago because I was on campus and just thought I'd ask a couple questions while I was there. I guess what happens is, if you get it now, you eat up a couple months and then you end up having to take it again before the program is even over. In the night/weekend program, they don't even require you to have it until the second semester! Man I feel stupid!

It's because we don't start clinicals until the second semester in the Nights/Weekends program.

Katty4982- its not a bad thing to go ahead and get certified (except you'll have to pay for it again) you never know when you may need to save a life! Especially being summer I have already seen people nearly drown. So don't feel stupid.

I wanted to go ahead and take it! You have to retake it every 2 years regardless :)

Hey everyone! So here is the information I have found out. Im applying for fall n/w also and im in microbiology right now. A girl in my class said that she already got her rejection letter from Jeff State and It just seemed really early to me. So I finally got a hold of someone and this is what i was told. She might have not had a complete app or her score was just too low but it is possible that she already got her rejection letter. Also the lady that is on maturnity leave is the one that used to do the calling. Since she is not there we more than likly will not be getting a call. I was also told that we need to keep checking our pipeline because they will email us but we MIGHT be getting a letter too. She said in the past she has helped mail the letters out but she has not mailed anything out yet. I know its not much but thats all the information I could get. O and that we would here something end of June beginning of July.

I hope I don't get a rejection letter! So far so good! Good luck to everyone this just got real!
