Hi Everyone,
I just applied to The RN program at Jeff State and I wanted to get a thread going for other Fall 2013 hopefuls. If you're like me, the next couple months of waiting is going to be torture and I just thought it would be helpful to have somewhere to go to help pass the time with others in our situation :) I'm pretty optimistic and think I have a good chance, but you just never know! What kind of scores did everyone apply with? I wonder what the cutoff will be? I was told it could be late July before we hear anything...anyone hear something different? Also, who is applying for part-time and who is applying for full-time?
Look forward to meeting you all and GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE!
Has anyone called up there an asked questions? I know she's busy, and I hate to bother her. If the other advisor made a mistake when he told me it was fine to use that chemistry class, then I'm not getting in. There is a difference between 196.5 and 176.5. I also tried looking at the nursing application and the course catalog, they are both down.
Just a head's up ya'll. I go to the Shelby campus and in 1st semester they let students switch and get the clinical days they wanted but in 2nd they are assigned and cannot be changed. So if you go to the Shelby campus be prepared for that because clinical can be on the weekends. They don't care if you go to church, are a Sunday school teacher, work or have to go to your own wedding reception. Most of my class goes on Thursday or Friday but a few of us got stuck with Saturdays and Sundays. It's very unfair.
I don't think the 5 year thing is correct. They would have a lot of ticked off people if it is. They have told too many people for it to be true. I was told classes can be used for up to 10 years. Don't stress it y'all! I think it is just a misunderstanding or maybe the advisor was wrong. I do think it is the TEAS that only lasts 5 years. I hope we know soon because now we are all second guessing ourselves! We did the best we could and if its meant to be this time it will be. If not we have more chances. Good luck to everyone!
Okay here is what I think (this is my opinion based on what I have read online, I have not called yet): I know sciences are only good for 5 years to go toward your degree. If you have a science that is older than 5 years, it cannot go toward your degree. While you can use these classes to go toward points for up to 10 years, you will have to retake it if its older than 5 years. Does that make sense? Also I read in Jeff State's website the TEAS test is good for 3 years :)
Well maybe someone needs to look into that before we freak out. It doesn't apply to me so it would be silly for me to call and ask. I would otherwise. I may call to see how much longer and how they will be notifying us because I am moving at the end of this month and if it is by letter I may not get it. I never get my forwarded mail and I don't have time to take off to change my address at the school. I hope all of that isn't true and you don't have to retake classes.

Yeah I totally agree! I was told sciences for my major are good for 5 years, but that really doesn't seem like very long. I hope it's longer :)

Well I tried to look up on Jeff State's website the information about how long the science classes are good, because I thought surely somewhere on the application or curriculum requirements it would say something about it...but when I click on the link it says the server is down. I agree, sometimes it really seems like things don't run very smoothly over there. But, in my experience, it's been that way at just about every community college I've been to....I guess they do the best they can?
