JCL Birthing Center Closing

Sad to see this in the news. Almost 100 jobs will be disrupted. Apparently it was a money loser what with state low income funding cuts. I'd guess the shortage of obstetric drs made a difference too. So many of those guys have gotten out of the biz. Seems to be a few local hospitals without OB services and that includes Mayo.

I'd hate to be one of those OB nurses; you'd have to move elsewhere to find a job.

This might be the first cut, but I don't think it will be the last. AHCCCS is making

a lot of cuts to health care.

My sympathies lie with those at JCL. Yeah, merry Christmas :rolleyes: I wish each and

every one of you a better, higher paying job for the new year.

Yep, another round of cuts for sure. They were counting on Prop 302 to raid funds from other programs but that was defeated in the Nov election.

Maybe this is why AZ Hospitals are bracing for state cuts. More than 250k Arizonans could be without medicaid benefits as qualifying requirements are raised.

Interesting public comments to this article. Many of the comments are blaming

this on "Obama care". It's hard to believe how misinformed the public is on this

issue.

i can't find the quote, but brewer made a statement about the transplant issue saying that they were cut because transplants are "optional" and a "luxury". :eek:

Obviously our governor has not known anyone personally that needs a heart or

liver transplant. Optional? Laughable.

She shouldn't even need to know someone personally that needs an organ transplant to understand that it's not comparable to buying a Mercedes.
