January 2009 Visa Bulletin

What are your guesses about the coming January 2009 VB?

Maybe all those awesome positive optimistic thoughts and prayers can somehow alter the VB.

:yeah::lol2::D

All your comments are duly noted. But I have to say I will stick to my original post. I know there is a crisis, but I think that lay-offs and hiring freezes are not happening at every hospital in America as what my relative RNs are saying. And I believe them. Nothing you say will change that, sorry.

Also, I know there is a credit crunch, it's hard to own or finance a car and a house right now, but fortunately I got that covered.

Good day to you all! :smokin:

Keep in mind also that the situation now may not be the same tomorrow or in the future. So, later on, the hospitals that are currently not on freeze-hiring and not having lay-offs may follow the trend should the economy worsen.

I wish you the best and hopefully things wont go as bad for you. :)

whats the wrong with them.we are from India dreaming today or tomorrow will be there, actually now we are getting affraid.morethan one year back we got the license also.but due to retrogresion is on pending.Have hopes and prayers to good futures be there.

really for NCLEX exam ,years we struggled. even for CANADA also hearing they are not hiring foreign nurses.God help us.

Right now things are actually retrogressed back to 2001/2002 for those from India. So things are worse for you than other countries at this time, and do not see it getting better anytime soon.

No country has unlimited visas for nurses and things are getting bad all over the world right now, not just the US but Canada and the rest of Europe as well.

Can we ask if you actually have been hired by a hospital in the US and if so, what your PD date is?

Funny thing is that for every foreign nurse that is already in the US and working here now, they are agreeing with what I have stated. There are issues all over the country, and since I moderate here as well as the NCLEX Forum and am in contact with many new grads that can't get hired and they trained in the US, then this puts me in a better spot to know what is actually happening around the country as well as overseas.

Perhaps to put things in a better focus for you, the census is down at most facilities now, so that means that they are not getting in the same money that they were six months ago and will not be for sometime. In order to meet their bills, they have to cut back on something. Even if one is lucky enough to get hired right now, the visas still come from the US government and they are still limited per country of birth. If one is from a country that has a high number of applicants, then the chances of getting a visa are going to be that much slimmer. There is no guarantee for anyone that they are automatically going to be getting a visa for the US. Just not going to be happening and has not happened for several years now already.

Mr. Velocity. Seems like you bank more on what your friends in US are saying. I hope they are being honest with you. I can't figure out why people are trying to hide the real status of US at the moment. Things wont be better, and is just expecting to be worse for quite some time.

Congratulations for you have all the finances for a car and a house. But those are not your ONLY needs once you get here. You need to work and survive by all means, and sad to say, with the economic crisis that US is facing, one would find it difficult even living a simple life in here. And also,Lay-offs are taking place all over, and nobody is immune to that phenomenon, even americans.

You have said that some of your friends got their visas during the last 2 months. And see, they've waited for more than 3 years...This is also what we are trying to emphasize with you guys...with retro ON, takes so many years for one to be able to migrate here, and while waiting, risk of job offers getting cancelled is so high, especially with economic crisis going on.

You may probably be like your friends, with a PD of mid-late 2005 that would be current too soon, you may be granted with a visa, come here in USA and buy a car and a house. THEN YOU MAY BE THE EXCEPTION.But You must also take into consideration that posts/comments/replies that you're getting here from members and moderators are also intended for general population that has the norms of the majority who until now, still clinging blindly to their AMERICAN DREAM.

Once again to my Kababayans, be realistic in goal setting. Don't be too blind of what is happening out here, you might stumble, and never get up again.:nono:

I suppose that I was lucky on this one. I was advised on this website few months ago not to do the adjustment of status. Sorry but I did it and guess what I got the work permit at the end of august, and I started to work at the beginning of november in NYC I'm glad I did not listen the moderator who told me to stay with the CP route. Otherwise I would still be at home right now struggling to pay the rent and everything that goes with it.

Congrats on getting the work permit :)

Actually, it would really be better if the facts/opinions shared is for the sole purpose of informing everyone of the good and bad sides; the pros and cons. In my humble opinion, it shouldn't really be all about telling people what to do and not to do - the decision will still be up to the person. I find it more helpful for me and some people I know to just know the pros and cons and not push them to do whatever they think the person should do. It just all boils down to how the facts or opinions are presented or stated.

However, in the end, there is no one to blame but ourselves if something bad happens. Why is that? It's because it is us who decided what to do. Other people can say whatever they want, push you to do something as much as they can but in the end, if you choose to follow them and it ended up bad, you can't just blame them for everything. Just as it's also not so nice too to boast that we were successful just because we didn't follow someone else's opinion. We always have a choice, but we are also responsible for the choices we make.

Possibilities are endless. We can never really tell when and if the situation will be good. It is a risk; it will always be, even if the economy is stable. It can be great now but hell tomorrow or the other way around. No one can tell. So, for me, I always make it to a point that I consider both sides very well - pros and cons. I take everything into consideration, most especially the bad sides. By knowing the possible bad outcomes, I can prepare myself for the worst. I can formulate plans which I can use should a certain bad situation arise later on. Then again, this is just me and I'm just sharing whatever I think might be able to help others cope with all the negative feedback or comments they see in this forum. Try not to take them personally.

I wish everyone a good luck :)

The only reason I can think that you was able to AOS was because your PD was being processed. Majority of cases we see with a PD of 2005 means there must have been something wrong with your application. You can not file for AOS unless visas are current or PD on VB is being processed. Glad you have got your visa and working but think of the 800,000 that filed AOS in July 07 and still waiting and will probably be waiting for a long time

Please go back and review what you posted in April of this year, that is more than a few months ago and about the issues with your attorney for a start. There are no issues with me, you could not file until your PD became current, there is no way that the government would accept anything no matter what anyone did. And for others that wish to review them and they were the last ones they can all be found under the Questions for Suzanne4 thread during April of this year, not just a few months ago.

At that point in time, you were unable to do so. And then you asked about the green card in the same post, and it is going to be years before you get it. There are 800,000 waiting from summer of 2007 for theirs and they will get theirs first before anything is done with your petition down the line.

Best of luck to you, just hope that your facility does not start with lay-offs as those hired last are usually the first to be laid off and payments from insurance and the state are down all over, including the census in almost every hospital.

So please, be accurate when you try to blame something on me that I had nothing to do with. Your issue is that you have been waiting for more than 3 years, that is all with you, and not me.

Happy Holidays!

Forgot to add this one little note: Please do come back and let us know when you actually receive your green card. Funny thing that is that you would have had it now or close to now with the Consular Processing, as they come from two different processing points, but with the AOS, you are behind all of the others that applied last year for the AOS and had their I-485 submitted then.

Do be aware that you must obtain Advanced Parole for any time that you wish to leave the US as well.

Can we ask if you actually have been hired by a hospital in the US and if so, what your PD date is?

May I ask why does it bother you so much? It's only one person's opinion. Some people agree with you, yes, but some people don't, and I'm one of the latter. It's a free world right? :wink2:

My PD is what PhillyRN82 guessed

Have a good day everyone

yeah yeah yeah, I know what you're saying. But I still stand by my own opinion, no offense.:wink2:

That story is very depressing... things now getting tougher and sad. I just passed my nclex exam but after reading this thread, i'll be thinking of other options. To share a bit of my story, m now in a good relationship with an american guy and he affects much of my decision of going there but after reading you story about foreign and local citizens sweethearts... i feel sad... hope evythings going to be okay

Aug-Sept 05 for Phil and ROW and Dec 01 for India, that's my guess.
