Canada's Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Hello Breech. Congrats on making it this far.:) Anyway, I just would like to ask if your training in the ICU was volunteer or as a staff nurse? It's very hard to find employment nowadays and hospitals are saturated with nurses. My experience is only through volunteer training and i'm concerned that i may have a hard time looking for an employer, if ever.

May I ask why does it bother you so much? It's only one person's opinion. Some people agree with you, yes, but some people don't, and I'm one of the latter. It's a free world right? :wink2: My PD is what PhillyRN82 guessed Have a good day everyone

All your comments are duly noted. But I have to say I will stick to my original post. I know there is a crisis, but I think that lay-offs and hiring freezes are not happening at every hospital in America as what my relative RNs are saying. And I believe them. Nothing you say will change that, sorry. Also, I know there is a credit crunch, it's hard to own or finance a car and a house right now, but fortunately I got that covered. Good day to you all!

Well I'm sorry but I will be sticking to what I said before. Everybody has their own opinion about this matter. You stick to yours and I'll stick to mine. It's as simple as that.

I'm not at all surprised by your response. You have been singing the same tune and saying the same things over and over. I don't have to explain my sources as they came from nurses also working in America. Again, it depends on the state, and maybe your area has been having lay offs, but it is not true in some other parts. You are not the only nurse in America who can give us ideas and views on what's happening. We also consider what others have to say on what's going on. And quite frankly, I'll take their opinion over yours because I know them personally. Also, nurses were given their visas for the past couple of months simply because their PD was already current. I have friends who were interviewed and got their visas, that's all I'm saying.

Well, I happen to know that some parts of california and other parts of NY are still hiring RNs.That's according to my RN friends and relatives living and working in the area. I think it depends on the state or area really. A lot of foreign nurses were already given visas the past 2 months, and their job offer still stands, which is a good sign. So to all you foreign nurses out there, please don't loose hope. Hang in there. This economic crisis is not a permanent thing. For how long it continues, nobody knows. America has been the top economy in the world for so long, it's like a cycle, what goes up, comes down also. But I am very hopeful that things will turn around very soon. Nobody knows what the next VB will be, but I hope it brings great news.

Retrogression Is Not Over
Amen! Anybody, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure what suzzane said about thousands of H1-Bs waiting for for greencards via AOS is correct, but how many among them are from the Philippines? Probably very few only since only few Filipinos get tourist visas to be able to go to the US, few apply for H1-Bs (well, fewer than India or China I suppose) and majority of professions consuming EB3 visas here are nurses. Many of them have already left as a result of the 50k visas given before. That's why in the June VB, the Philippines was the only country with a June 2005 PD. THE LINE GOT SHORTER. I'm assuming that the visas are divided accordingly to each country, and that the Philippines will have more visas for EB3 than other countries. I hope I'm right..........

no, you don't need to pass any exam before you can file your I-140. Our I-140 was filed without any exams taken, we just took it after. Infact, many nurses from other agencies just take the NCLEX when they arrive in the US, provided that they show the consulate a copy of their ATT before thay leave.

NVC -CP- GC Tracker
hello, i'm new here but i've been following this thread for a long time now. like most of you guys, my case was completed sept 2006, and again like most of you, NVC is requesting an updated DS-230. This request, I think is the same for everyone who had their case completed, but were caught up by the retro. It's the ist time that NVC did this, for some reason. I don't believe that if your case is still in the NVC and not in the consulate right now that you won't get your visa this year. I believe there are a lot of visas for the Philippines as shown in the june VB, we were the only country that jumped to 2005 mainly because a lot of nurses have already left the country because they benefited from the recaptured visas.Majority of immigrants who consume EB3s in the Phils are nurses. As a result, the line got shorter so more visas will be available, maybe beyond october and upto december 2007. If your fee bill was already paid last year before the retro, I think there will ba a visa for you this year. I hope i'm right
