January 2018 Nclex

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone! Any January 2018 test takers? I took mine yesterday from 2pm-7pm. I'm pretty sure I bombed. I did not feel confident, had a headache halfway through, and walked out of there feeling defeated. It was the longest 5 hours of my life and I didn't mentally prepare for it enough. I got home, did the PVT 2 hours afer, got the good pop-up. Tried again this morning, still the good pop-up. But i fear that I wouldn't pass the BON's quality check. The waiting game is making me anxious, so I'm hoping to just let it all out and keep myself distracted.

Cheers to everyone who passed! And for test takers, I couldn't emphasize it enough: go in there for a 260-item exam (I took this little tidbit for granted and ended up with a headache). Good luck!

Any advice for my previous posts? taking in about 2.5 weeks....

I haven't gotten my results so take this advice with a grain of salt. I also should mention that I did not take Kaplan. I used UWORLD only.

I took nothing but practice tests for 2 straight weeks and used my scores to gauge where I was at and how likely I was to passing NCLEX. It wasn't until the 3rd week I started to REALLY look at the rationales and study them. You can take practice tests all day long (or for weeks in my case) but if you don't understand why you got the right answers right and the wrong answers wrong, you won't feel confident in your ability to tackle ANY question that comes your way on NCLEX.

So my question for you is, how well do you feel on the rationales? If your answer is "eh-kind of" then spend the next week and half studying just the rationales. Give your self a break the day before and the day of and trust that these 6 weeks worth of studying have done their due diligence!

Keep us all posted!

pizzalover - also I saw that you haven't tested for SATA questions yet in Kaplan. Definitely get your self accustomed to navigating SATA questions. You may have a lot on the test. The majority of my test was SATA than anything else. I felt very comfortable with tackling these because of all my exposure and rationale understanding gained through UWORLD. Hope this helps!

I took it for Alabama- they post their results on the BON website by 8am the next morning! I known CA is much slower! Best of luck and keep calm while you're waiting!

License posted to BRN/BON website this morning! I waited 4 days. Took my test on a Friday, got results the following Tuesday (agony). However, some people have waited much longer for results so I should count my blessings.

I used UWORLD to help prepare me, best advise is to KNOW your rationales for how you got the right answers right and the wrong answers wrong. Do not go off of your percentages alone. Otherwise, NCLEX will be even more challenging.

PVT did work for me. I also would recommend logging in to your BON/BRN account to see if your application is pending/open along with the PVT. This will give you an indication that your test may be getting processed/graded/ or whatever else they do behind the Wizard curtain at the BRN :)

I would also advise not to plan to bombard your BRN/BON with phone calls if you are having to wait days to get your results instead of hours. Depending on your state, processing times may vary. Most of my class mates received their results within 36-48 hours (CA), but it took me 4 days. I told myself I would not call to inquire to the processing of my results until I went past the listed processing times on their website (which for CA is 2-4 weeks). Luckily for me, I only had to wait 4 days!

Set yourselves up for success, not just a quick way through! I'll remain on here to offer any words of advise or support that I can.

So I took the NCLEX this morning, I'm in CA and am now waiting for results. 75 question shutdown and I used uworld exclusively for prepping. Did the whole qbank in 75 question tests with a few shorter ones when I was pacing myself. Scored about 50% at the start climbing to to 60's as I get more familiar with the question styles. After that I started making new tests with the ones I got incorrect.

I've done the Pvt once about a hour after I got the email from pearsonvue and got the good pop-up. Now I wait for results, I'm anxious but hopefully the results come in this week.

Wish me luck.

Best of luck to you! It sounds like you set yourself up very well. I am a PVT believer. Keep us posted!
