Hi. Anyone apply for Aria SON? for January 2012 start?:)
Would classes like patient ed., health assessment, nursing informatics, etc. count as PSU courses too since they aren't main nursing courses and can be taken with the main ones??
lol, i only assumed they were b/c they were categorized as Nusing ###
One nursing class per term, two nursing classes per level. If go to the aria website, they shiw the cirriculum rotation plan
yeah julie gave me a copy.. but i got confused b/c it's pointed out that " for level one, theres 2 nursing classes." so i thought there was something more behind what Bumblebee said..
Hi ladies and gents,Someone mentioned on here that they saw the book list. Where did you find that and is it the Winter 12 book list? I checked on sonis and didn't see it. Thanks!
be prepared though. it caught me off guard
yes phillies girl, i will def be done in that time, unless they add alot more bachelor classes in or something. then i will stay another semester, idk.
celeste. you dont need all those books. you def need your fundamentals book. i had the medical dictionary from when i took medical terminology (at my community college)---havent used it yet. the test success book sits and collects dust. thinking as a nurse was a waste of money. the american nurses association books i bought and never used. the med calculation book u need for 111. and some people didnt buy it because they teach you the med math in class anyway. but i used mine for practice. the drug guide you dont need until you look up meds in 111. i stopped using the study guides that go with our textbooks last semester...they are now collecting dust too.
the rest of the stuff im not sure. but you really only need your fundamentals book and a nursing diagnosis book you like.
as always, everything is in the library so if you cant afford things right now, then you will be spending lots of time reading there
@Bumblebee: Warning: it's a lot!like you and a few others, I have taken a majority of the PSU classes ( hopefully they accept them from temple!) From their curriculum, it looks as though all i have left are: pathophysiology, pharm & adv. pharm.
- Is 2yrs, 8wks the minimum amount of time to graduate?
- What would I be taking in place of the one's I already did if i have so little left?
- What are your current plans? .. Finish off the ~2yrs & then start working? Continue on and get your Penn State A.D? or perhaps the possible BSN they have been mentioning (which IS still happening right?)?
- Since your almost done your 1st year of nursing school, how does it feel? haha.. sorry for the vagueness; I was looking at the schedule for nursing 110. The hours remind me of grade school only EARLIER! Isn't/Wasn't it overwhelming? Or do the instructors help make it manageable? or are they the stricter type?
- Any reviews on Miss Kerri Austin?
shes the listed instructor for nurs110.
- It was my first time seeing all the books for nursing classes..... are ALL of them really at the library!?
theres so many, i would imagine waiting alot? I plan to use whatever resources are available if it means saving that much money.
- 2 nursing classes? do you mean nurs 110&111? arent there 2 for each level (ie nuirsing 210&211/310&311)?

I apologize if I ended up overwhelming YOU! hehe. just wanted to get a better grasp on these.
-yes 2 yrs 8 weeks is minimum unless they change things
-if you have little left you will be taking the next level courses and other classes they have that you can use towards your bsn. they are supposed to be adding nursing research but they havent yet.
-my plan is to get my RN, and start working asap while taking penn state online courses for the BSN which should only take 2 semesters when im finished. if ARIA changes their program around in time then maybe i can stay there longer to get the BSN rather than getting it online. idk i have to go with the flow because things are changing.
-one year in and i feel tired of it already. to be honest. yes it is very overwhelming, everyone is always tired. its constant work...they keep you busy. and they are strict. if you dont put in the time, you dont read, and you dont make school your life, then your grades will 100% show it because you wont be passing or borderline. i see it everyday. be prepared to have no life, no sleep and stressed out at times. its the end of the semester for me so im feeling burnt out. 3 weeks to go....2 weeks of clinical left..i cant wait. i need that break. im working more now this semester so its been 3 weeks with no day off....so you can imagine. im glad im not one of those who has children because idk how they do it all. but guess what, if you want something, you find a way, because its what you gotta do....nursing school is hard when you dont put in the time. and putting in the time is hard. i say it over and over again that its not going to be given to you...YOU HAVE TO EARN IT. every step of the way.
-Kerri? omg shes TERRIBLE! haha SIKE! no way....Kerri is awesome!!! she is a very nice and sweet instructor and i would rather have her than some others anytime anyday! shes perfect for first level. youll love her. :)
-i just posted about the books so read that. uhmm...ive never had to wait for a book. you should be ok. i would try to buy your fundamentals book tho. its something you really need to have at home if you can....
I can imagine just how stressful and energy draining it is. We'll be seeing for ourselves soon enough! I can already picture myself eventually and probably periodically getting frustrated. It's gonna be a long hard road, but it'll be such an awesome feeling to finally get through it! :) And then of course even after the schooling, nursing will be a challenging career in general. But i like that about it along with everything it means to be a nurse, the variety of things you can do with the career, and not to mention how fulfilling it'll be. I'm just all around ready to get started and glad i don't have to wait much longer!!
So glad we'll have a great instructor for fundamentals!!!
Also, did anyone's drug screening results get uploaded to certified profile yet? It's been a week since i had mine but it's not on there.
