Some time ago, an elderly 1:1 Patient expired, and neither the Tech or the Charge Nurse noted this. The House Supervisor was making rounds and noticed the Patient had ceased spontaneous respirations.

In order to increase monitoring ability, and to decrease costs during this frigid weather, our Medical Center has implemented and advertised a new strategy:

That opens them up for so many possibilities too! Cuts kitchen costs by having a huge walk-in fridge everywhere. Can just leave the salad bar fixins' out all will-nilly. Oh, and don't forget the newly expanded morgue!! Innovators!!

All Staff Members are required to wear gait belts when they work the Gero Psych Unit.

In addition to the staff members wearing gait belts, all patients are required to perform a TUG test upon admission.

"The Timed Up and Go test (TUG) ia a simple test used to assess a person's mobility and requires both static and dynamic balance' I t uses the time that a person takes to rise from a chair, walk three meters, turn around, walk back to the chair, and sit down."

I suggested we call our test the....

OK, as a safety coach, I need to inform you that stepping on these 3 inch cockroaches are a serious potential for slip and fall hazards.
