Jacksonville University mental health NP program

Published

Hello :-) I'm applying for the 2017 mental health NP program (MSN) at JU and I can't find anyone's testimony or experiences with applying. I've found stories for the other programs, but not mental health. I was hoping someone could share with me their experience in the program or the acceptance rate for this program at JU. What could help me get in or during the interview? Thank you for your time and answers! 😊❤️

Hi there. I'm applying as well. The cohort will be of 10 students. First time pass rate is 95%. Seems like an okay program. Good luck!!

Thank you for replying!!! That's a small cohort and a great pass rate! I'm so excited/nervous. Good luck í ½í¸Š I hope we both get in and I will be meeting you soon!

Do you already live in the Jacksonville area or will you be relocating? Assuming I get accepted I will move there over the summer to try to find a part time psych position. I also am calling tomorrow to ask how many clinical hours are required and who actually precepts us (meaning will they all be PMHNPs and psychiatrists)? Do you have prior psychiatric experience?

I do live in Jacksonville, but I don't have any psych nursing experience outside of clinicals. I have applied to different psych units at hospitals, but I just graduated last year and got a med/surg offer and a pediatric offer. Every psych unit I applied to told me I needed experience. So I've been working in pediatrics but I'm lucky to have a team that gives me the pediatric psych patients when available. Also, the nurses during any clinical rotation were usually happy to give me psych patients on the med/surg units. I know this is what I want to do and I know I can make a difference so I won't give up! :) What about you, do you have psych experience?

Same boat. Everyone wants experience! I don't have any except for clinicals as well. Sure wish I had more experience!!

Me too! Hopefully we will get it soon í ½í¸Š

Just an update. The reason you have not been able to find out any information about the JU PMHNP program is because they are graduating their first cohort this year. Therefore, the pass rate I gave you is incorrect. Im not sure why admissions gave me that answer.

Oh wow! Ok thank you for letting me know. Hopefully we will hear from them by the end of spring for the interviews. :-)

Hi Ladies. I know it has been a while but I was wondering if you can help me. I'm going to start the Nurse Program in Psych on May 15th for 2018 at JU. I was wondering you girls can tell me anything about the program? Also, what is the name of the text book for Advance Patho? How was the class? I would appreciate your help very much. =) Also my brother is a psychiatrist in Ponte Vedra Beach. I might be working with him after I am done with the program however, I would like to know if you can share any information on the job market in Jacksonville?

Fired up,

Marcello De Carvalho =)

Hi There!! I was wondering if anyone is a member of the first graduating class? I am registered to begin in the fall and am interested in finding out how the program was.

Thanks!

Tara
