I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?
Special K, you will get in at Lawrence. I was accepted in the Fall with 214. Congrats! Crossing fingers for all of you that are waiting on those letters. I was there a couple months ago myself. Seriously though, start deep cleaning your house now because once the program starts you can forget about it! LOL
hee hee!
Deja Vu!
Remember them telling us those same bits of wisdom not that long ago!!
I have to close my eyes when I enter my house, or else I would go crazy from all the dust bunnies peering at me underneath all their little hiding places.
Is is it winter break yet? I need to get my house under control!!!
I'm low man on the totem pole. I applied to Fort Wayne with 202:imbarI did hear that historically you've never needed more than 200. Watch this will be the semester that 203 is the cutoff:(
It was that darn TEAS that did it to me.....I have a 4.0:rolleyes:
Yes, good luck everyone.....please let us know ASAP when you all get your letter. We want to be the first (well, at least the second to know)
I struggled with the TEAS forever...got the study guide, did practice tests and then after all that got a 84. Went ahead and did it again and got lucky with a 92. Some parts were so easy it was rediculous, and then some parts, I was like:confused::confused:
Good Luck!!!

I am in total nesting mode right now in anticipation...took this semester off (only have one more pre-req to do) and am getting my kids rooms painted, cleaning closets, taking naps, etc...all then things I will have to give up once I (hopefully) get in! Congrats to you, Indymom!! If you are at Lawrence, I'm sure we have crossed paths in the past.
Thanks for your encouragement!!!

I have my fingers in my ears!!!! I have 3 kids, two dogs, two rats...oh yeah, and a HUSBAND!!!!! AM I CRAZY??? (The people who are closest to me say "yes- but I can't help it!!!")
I got in the fall with a 210 at Lawrence, and turned it down. I reapplied for spring 09 with an updated 212. I am still not sure I want to do it though. I have been reading a thread on here called "How many new nurses are seriously thinking about quitting". I don't want to go through all the pain and time of school to find out that I don't like nursing. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a wonderful field for some; I am just not sure about me. I have been trying to decide now everyday for a year and a half. Somedays yes ,and some days no, but I think about it everyday!

Hey Wife-lover-
Do you have currently have a clinical job? If not, it might help you figure out if nursing is for you. I got a part-time job at St. V's as a PCT. It has helped me to see the good, bad and the ugly of nursing in a hospital. (Where I prefer to work instead of a clinic/office) Some days are very rewarding and great, and some not-so-great. I guess it's like that with every job. However, overall it has confirmed that I enjoy nursing and feel like I would be a good nurse. Also going into it as an "older" (38) student I feel is an advantage. I have already tried other jobs and know myself better than I did as a 20 something. I think many of those disgruntled nurses became so as younger people, didn't realize it wasn't for them but didn't get out before they allowed it to embitter them. Just my personal opinion!!!
Good luck on your decision!:typing
I am taking ANP 101 right now and really like it. Really, I truly do. We had our first test on Tuesday over two chapters and I studied my tail off. I knew that stuff frontwards and backwards. When he handed the test out I thought OH NO!
Didnt think I missed more than four or five at the most. Turns out I got an 89. Dannggg it. I am already discouraged about this class. We alll know you have to have an A. Getting an 89 on the first test does not accomplish that.
Should I get out while I am ahead and retake it next semester? Can I still pull it out and get an A?
Sorry this is so long but to this point I have had straight A's. I am really stressin.
89 on the first test is good. I use the first test in a class as a guideline to show the teachers testing style. You are not in trouble! the class grade should be divided up by attendance, lab, homework and participation, and such, so try not to pin everything onto one or two test scores. Last year, in a & p 2 I had a test score of 78, and the rest 90's and an 87, and got an A. Try not to fret!

89 is not bad, Remember this is only the first exam. It sounds like you are trying hard and that is great. Are you doing well on the quizzes? Think of the big picture--you can miss 60 points (at least at Lawrence) the whole semester and still get an A...I think that makes it a little easier rather than feeling like you have to be perfect on each test.

I have my own business currently. I did volunteer for the emergency room in the local hospital last summer. It turned out that I wouldn't actually be in the emergency room much, and I was starting school, so I didn't go through with it. A lot of RN's on here, say that everything changed for them when they got their RN. Thanks for the reply though.
