Ivy Tech Thread

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

I was curious of what everyone thought of this.

There is a girl in my program. We both took the TEAS the same day. We both got 82's. She is in another non-nursing class of mine and we started talking about grades and such.

She said she got in with 3 A's and a B and did not retake her TEAS. That gives her 192.

Last Thursday I was talking to a guy that I had Psych with. He said he did not get into the ASN program, but he did get into the LPN program. He got a 78 on his TEAS. He had all A's on his pre reqs that would give him 198.

That of course is more than the girl in my program.

Of course, maybe he's not being honest. But it made me think WTH?

Maybe she means she got into the LPN? Are you also figuring in 3 points for region? That could make a difference also if one of them live somewhere else.

wishin, they are tellin' stories! 1...I know several people who scored 202-204 and did not get in the ASN program, and 2, you HAVE to have an 80 on the TEAS to get in no matter what. Seems goofy to lie about that:rolleyes:

That's not true. You don't HAVE to have an 80 on the TEAS. I did not get into the Indy ASN program and I had 202 points total. All A's and I got a 79 on my TEAS. It's much harder to get into the Indy/Lawrence campus because of the amount of people that apply. I did However get into the Columbus campus with only 199 points because I didn't get the 3 points for region.

I would think every campus would be the same when calculating points.

In Fort Wayne, they take the points from each pre-req. A=30pts,

B=20pts, C=10pts, total TEAS points (as long as you pass each individual section), and 3 points for region.

I will use my scores as an example.

79= TEAS

120=A's on all pre-req's

3pts for region

Total of 202 pts (waiting to find out if I get in this spring.)

:thnkg:

That's the same way they do it statewide, I believe. I think the previous poster was saying in order to even have a chance at Indy, you had to have at least an 80.

I got in at Indy with 214. I've not met anyone that scored less than high 80's and got into the RN program. Even the LPN program is competitive because most of the ones that didn't score high enough for the RN program went the LPN route.

She def. is in the ASN program with me. I don't know why she would lie, but that would make her score only 195 even with the 3 region points.

I think maybe he is the one telling stories, maybe he didn't really have all A's on the pre reqs. Or else maybe he didn't score high enough in some areas on the TEAS which made him ineligible for the ASN program. I know it states you have to score a certain percentage for each section. I don't know if that is the same for the LPN program.

I just figured she had all A's and was kind of shocked that she didn't and then didn't even retake the TEAS.

I wish I would have known I could have still got in with the 82. It would have saved me 30 bucks on the retake.

Oh well, it doesn't really matter to me. It just made me wonder if maybe there was a mistake on points awarded or something.

I have my first test in Pharm tomorrow. I should be studying. But..here I am. I should be ashamed for being so distractable!! LOL!!

Don't be ashamed... after all the studying we do anyway, it's okay to take a break every now and then. Heck, I should be studying too! LOL.

I got an A on my pharm test! :hpygrp:

I missed 2, I only would have missed 1 but, I changed my answer on the look over. Don't you hate it when that happens?

I'll take it though!

We had our first lab tonight. It was actually a lot of fun. We used the glo germ to see all the microbes on our hands. It was pretty cool.

I hope everyone is doing good. Can you believe week 2 is almost over?

I forgot to add this...

I found out quite by accident, that I got $100 from Phi Theta Kappa. I went into the bookstore to see if they had patches yet. When I went to put them on my account she said, you have two accounts in here. She investigated it and found out that Phi Theta Kappa awarded me $100. She then told me I had to use it by the 14th because it is not refundable. So I am going SHOPPING tomorrow! :w00t:

I was not even notified of the money and it does not show up in my CC. I'm glad I went in for patches today!

That's awesome!! Congrats!!! I had my first test in Fundamentals today. Well...yesterday, I guess.

I won't know my grade until 9am. I don't think I missed any. Maybe 1, but I feel really good about it. Our first Pharm test is Tuesday, so I'm re-doing all my notes right now. I have to write them, read them, re-write them adding book info, and then type them before everything is sealed in my brain. Takes a loooooong time but it's worth it!

Congrats again!!!!!!

I know it's early and the letters won't be here until the end of the month...but the suspense is killing me! Come on, September 30th!!!!!

Anyone else out there agonizing right now? BTW--applied to Indy. :banghead:
