Ivy Tech Thread

Published

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

I knew about the CPR. I am hoping taking the red cross professional course will be good enough because that is the only one I have found. A background check huh? I guess that is probably important. I have never been arrested or even pulled over so I guess I should be good. I have heard that the hep B is not required at some schoolds, that you can sign a waiver if you don't want it. I am hoping that is how Richmond is but we will see.

Richmond Ivy Tech doesn't offer a cpr class? I know Indy does....it's like 50 bucks or something like that.

From what I have been told they do not.

I got the scoop now. The lady who does the nursing selection at Richmond called my friend at home today and told her she should apply to the LPN because she did not get into the RN. She told her the cutoff was 190 points and that she only had 185. My friend was so upset she did not even think about the total until she got off the phone. She had 4 A's and an 84.7 on the teas. That adds up to 204.7 points not 185 so we are both confused. She tried calling back but the lady had already left for the day.

I am very confused at the moment because a friend of mine that is also trying to get into the program just sent me an email and said she did not get into the RN program at Richmond, and that she missed it by 5 points. That is all she said. I am not sure where she got that info unless she received a letter. I have not heard back from her yet.

After a call to the actual nursing administrator today, I now have been told that the traditional RN acceptance letters will go out by Friday. I'm beginning to think that we won't really know what's going on until the letter comes! Do you think the program itself is this disorganzied?

That's a pretty big difference in points. They have screwed up somewhere. I would tell her not to call, but physically go into the office and ask to see the papers. She should also go to the ATI website and print off a copy of her scores and print a copy of her transcript to take in with her. Maybe they have mixed up her papers with someone elses.

Wow Friday!! That is really soon. I hope the program is not this disorganized but something is not right. If 190 is truly the cutoff score then my aunt and uncle will get in too. That means people who got all A's only had to get a 70 or above on the teas and that seems kind of low. Maybe that number is not right either. It is almost like they took the teas score and only added it to 100 points instead of 120.

I have tried writing this post a couple of times and it keeps getting zapped. I think it's my computer.

Anyway Jaime, my letter says that CPR has to be from a sanctioned American Red Cross or American heart Association. It also has to be for the Health Care Professional, which includes the two man cpr technique and AED training. I'm scheduled to take it on the 10th at my local Red Cross. It costs $45.

So yep, Red Cross will work.

Elizabeth, my fingers are crossed that they send your letters out Friday. You have suffered the wait more than long enough.

The Indianapolis campus asks for a specific panel drug screen...make sure you get the right one that way you're not wasting any money.

I already got a physical form for Richmond since I'm going to be out of town most of June, and there is a waiver there for Hep. B.
