Hey everyone! So the deadline has officially passed... and now we wait! I haven't seen any dedicated threads for Spring semester yet, so I figured this would be a good way to support each other and provide updates so we can try to get through the month of September together. I hope we can maintain at least a little bit of our sanity until then!
So who else is waiting for the letter(s)?
I only applied for the PN program but also applied to Kokomo and Anderson/Muncie. I received an acceptance letter to the Muncie campus on Thursday. I would prefer to attend the Kokomo campus but am still waiting on a letter from them. If it helps, my score was 125.
I graduated from the PN program in Muncie, and went to the transition in Marion. The Muncie program is really good, and they push you. I have nothing bad to say. During my transition there were several girls who go their PN in Kokomo and said it was horrific. A lot said that the were drove to meds and therapy! The only thing I can say for certain is pertaining to Muncie, but I thought I should share my stories if it comes down to a decision between the two.

I greatly appreciate your invaluable insight! I have a friend who just started at Kokomo and works with me and is already having a hard time. I also plan to do transition in Marion as that is where I am currently living! I did prefer Kokomo but I will take what I can get. My friend told me that the Muncie campus does not do nursing classes over the summer which would require an extra semester after not taking classes over summer? Is there any truth to this or is the program 3 consecutive semesters including summer? Also what clinical sites are affiliated with the Muncie campus? Again thank you so much for the info!
I applied to the Valpo campus for both the ASN and PN programs. My total score was 134/160. Taking psych 12 years ago, and keeping that B, kind of messed up my point values. In speaking with my counselor, he gave me a 50/50 shot of getting into the ASN program. This wait is miserable!! I stalk the mailman on a daily basis, and dream about acceptance/denial letters nightly!!
Good luck to everyone applying!

I'm stalking my mailbox too, I kept my B from psychology from nearly 20 years. Probably shouldn't have. I had an A in abnormal psych, but they said that wouldn't count : (

When I did the PN in Muncie it was 3 consecutive semesters, and I finished and graduated in July. It might depend on when you start. The traditional track I believe they do take summers off. It has been a few years since I attended, so some of the teachers/classes may not be the same. I did several rotations at Ball Memorial. We were also split up into different groups for geriatric cliniclas. We did nursing homes for our med pass clinical as well. I went to Westminster Village (a great place) and Muncie health and rehab as well (not so great). The other nursing home that people went to was in Yorktown. I think they put you closest to your home, and also if you are doing morning or evening clinicals. The Marion transition we went all over the place. MGH, wound clinic, elementary schools, OB, Nursery, and almost every floor of the hospital at MGH.
VALPO/GARY APPLICANTS
I have a question for anyone that may know. I was told that Valpo campus applicants were no longer allowed to apply to the Gary campus, because those applicants were being placed in a "pool" and would be selected to the campus in their county. (So those that live in Porter county would go to Valpo, those that live in Lake county would attend Gary campus).
If this is the case, how would this work for those applicants whodo not live in either county? Seems a little unfair to limit where some applicants can apply, due to where they live, but not limit who else can apply and be aaccepted into the same program.
Thank you much for that information I will be taking that into consideration as I make my decision! If you don't mind me asking, after you were done with your PN did u go straight into the ASN program? Also did you work while in either program?
No I didnt go straight back. I waited about 2 years. I had to take 2 more math classes because they changed the math requirements on me. I told myself to just go back within the 2 year realm so I didnt have to take that extra refresher class they make you take if you have been out 2+ years. Yes I worked all through out both of them. Night shift at an assisted living facility, so I got most of my studying done at work.
