Ivy Tech Spring 2015 hopefuls!

U.S.A. Indiana

Hey everyone! So the deadline has officially passed... and now we wait! I haven't seen any dedicated threads for Spring semester yet, so I figured this would be a good way to support each other and provide updates so we can try to get through the month of September together. I hope we can maintain at least a little bit of our sanity until then!

So who else is waiting for the letter(s)?

I turned in my application last week, but I'm not expecting to get in this time around. I think if I don't get in I'll retake my TEAS and Psych in the Spring. I'm hopeful though! I feel like the next few weeks are going to drag by! In the meantime I'll focus on Math and stalk the boards! Haha

I am confident you will get in LadyBug! I have a classmate who is in Bloomington's nursing program and he said a good amount of people get in with a couple of B's. You have a B in a class that is not heavily weighted and your TEAS score was high.

I don't want to get my hopes up to be let down, but I think our scores are pretty dang competitive!

Hey there, I also applied to spring admission, I am super nervous and not very confident with my score :( I am applying to lafayette which only has PN for spring and for Lawrence ASN and PN, I will take whatever I get. I applied with 116/160 so I am not convinced. I had a A in ENG, and B in pysch and APHY...and a 73 on teas...good luck everyone

I am wondering how the new requirements will impact admission. It seems like the teas has a lot more weight now. I applied to Lawrence ASN/PN only. The other locations were not accepting ASN applications for spring. I have all As and 81 on teas. I hope we all get in! Good luck to everyone!!

Hi rwilliams! I think you have a really good chance at LPN and you may have a chance at RN. I heard Lawrence is pretty competitive but I have seen several posts about people getting in their program after being an alternate. Best of luck to you! My fingers are crossed!

That is an awesome score Luv_Coffee! I agree with the weighing of the TEAS score, I was kind of upset that they changed the rules right before we applied. I worked my booty off for A's in all of the pre-req's and I have a lower score than I would have liked with the changes. I got just a point or two under you... A's in A&P, Psych, and English and an 80 on the TEAS. I hope that is enough to get in, but it is kind of hard to tell ahead of time because we have nothing to compare it to.

hi every one! I applied for ASN program in Evansville. I noticed everyone is pretty much from central and northern Indiana. Does anyone know of people applying or that have applied in Evansville?

I applied to the PN programs at Kokomo, Anderson, and Muncie. I decided to apply kind of on a whim and had one chance to take the TEAS, which I got a 75 on. A in A&P and Bs in Eng and Psych. All together I have a 125/160. I almost applied to the nursing program 3 years ago but the semester I was going to apply the nursing program changed the version of the TEAS they used and I chose to take the old version to apply for the Radiology program. I scored a 86 on the old version and was accepted into the Radiology program. Finished in the top 3 in my class and have been unable to secure employment since graduating a year and a half ago. I currently work as a ER Tech at my local hospital and the girls in radiology work on a PRN basis an average of 3 years before full time positions come open. I have grown to really love the ER life and made the decision to return to school for nursing. Between my training in radiology, my phlebotomy certification, my CNA, and spending the last year working in an ER I already posses many nursing skills and have proven to have the ability to complete a highly competitive program. Unfortunately none of these factors contribute to selection to Ivy Tech's Nursing program, so I will anxiously wait the next 6 weeks hoping my score was high enough.

I also applied for Spring admission to the Valpo campus, as my home campus (South Bend) only has fall admissions. Is there anyone on here who has gotten into the Valpo ASN program? What did the scores of those admitted look like? I have As in all the Prereqs except A&P 1, which I got a B in and I have a 79 TEAS score.

Even if not to the Valpo campus, what are some commonly accepted scores? Anyone??

I applied to both the Valpo and Gary campuses.. I am nervous and excited at the same time. Waiting on the letters is a bit nerve racking. I got A's in all my prereqs and an 88 on the TEAS. I really want the Valpo campus but I heard they are extremely competitive so I applied for both.

Hi Naester! I'm sorry to hear about the small job pool in Radiology, that's a bummer doing all of the schoolwork and having no employment opportunities after. I'm hoping that isn't what it will be like after we finish nursing school (popular opinion on allnurses seems to point in that direction, sadly). I hope you get into the PN program!!

Amyjm and Cschafer... I went to the Valpo information session when I first moved to Indiana in July, and I asked the Dean about the admission scores and what scores usually got in. She said that 150's and up usually were admitted, but she was not sure how/if the new rules and point system would change anything. So maybe you guys could use the old formula on your current scores to see if you are in that ballpark? It really varies campus to campus as far as what scores are "commonly accepted", and I think there will be changes with the new point system because it seems that the TEAS affects the score a lot more than it used to. Cschafer, you have an awesome score, I wouldn't doubt that you get into both campuses first try.

I think you will be accepted. Hopefully we will be attending classes together this coming spring! It is so much harder to determine the commonly accepted scores now, especially since this is the first semester of the new requirements. Good luck!
