Ivy Tech Spring 2015 hopefuls!

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

Hey everyone! So the deadline has officially passed... and now we wait! I haven't seen any dedicated threads for Spring semester yet, so I figured this would be a good way to support each other and provide updates so we can try to get through the month of September together. I hope we can maintain at least a little bit of our sanity until then!

So who else is waiting for the letter(s)?

Hi guys! I'm a current RN student at the Bloomington campus. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them :)

I applied at Evansville and am impatiently waiting for my letter! !

Specializes in Holistic Nursing.

I got my acceptance letter for the ASN in Lawrence as well. It was my only application, so I'm glad I got in! For those that are reading these posts I will break down what I had to be accepted: all A's and an 84 on the TEAS V, no tiebreakers because I did not take any classes at Ivy Tech...not even in the same state.

I currently live in St. Louis MO and I guess I will be moving back to my hometown, in Indiana, this upcoming January!

Halloween Orientation! Costumes?

HELP!!! I'll be completely honest, I didn't expect to be accepted into a program on my first try. I really didn't expect to be accepted into more than one...I've received letters so far from Madison, Sellersburg, and Indianapolis. Accepted for ASN for Madison and Sellersburg and accepted for PN program in Indianapolis. I'll obviously be passing up on the Indianapolis PN program to pursue my ASN. I'm having a lot of trouble deciding between Madison and Sellersburg. They are roughly the same distance from my home in Columbus, Indiana. It's close to an hour drive for either. Does anyone have any suggestions, opinions, or advice that might be helpful?

I received my acceptance letter 9/12. Anyone else receive theirs yet? :)

EDtech, I'm in the same boat as you. I got an acceptance letter for Lawrence, and Sellersburg. Both are about equal in drive time for me and both were second choices. It is a hard decision to make, and I'm feeling a bit torn. I am still patiently waiting on Bloomington, which would be perfect since it is only a 20 minutes drive for me.

OK, so I have a couple of friends that have chimed in on Facebook with some advice that may be helpful! A good friend works at Floyd Memorial (RN) and she said she went to Madison and the classes were great, but her clinicals were all to King's Daughters and they don't allow students to do much hands-on work with the patients. She said that several RN's that she works with at Floyd are teachers at Sellersburg and the clinicals are much better. They do clinicals at Floyd Memorial, Kosairs, and University of Louisville. Also, if you check the Indiana government website for NCLEX passing rates, Madison is 81.6 so about 40 of 49 students pass and Sellersburg has a pass rate of 87.6 which is about 64 of 73 students passing. They are pretty close with those pass rates for the boards, but Sellersburg sounds like an amazing opportunity for experience. I can't say enough about having those experiences, I have worked in the emergency department for almost seven years now and joined the military right after high school as a combat medic (I'm 27 for those of you that are thinking I must be 100 lol). I pretty sure that I'm going to go with Sellersburg. I'm also waiting to hear from Bloomington, but I worked in the ED there a few years ago as a tech and I'm not sure that I want to go back as a student. The hospital was great, I just feel like Sellersburg is going to provide more!

My question is... have we gotten in?! Haha, all jokes aside, thank you so much for offering! My mind is mostly taken up by the latter question at the moment, but I will be sure to ask you as soon as I have one. Thanks again!

An update for everyone applying to Bloomington: I called today (again, I swear I wasn't going to be "that person" but I am totally being "that person") and the girl up front said that would not be sending letters until the 30th. This is in contrast with what another girl up front said last week. She said that if we didn't receive a letter by the 30th to call because something may have gone wrong with the mail. I am sincerely hoping that the letters will be sent out before the 30th, and that the girl I spoke with today is just tired of getting phone calls asking ;)

Congrats DrFestiva! I think costumes sound like a perfect idea.

Congratulations HAK823! Some have gotten their letters on here, but not all.

Congrats for your acceptances EdTech & RainMay! I just moved to the state a couple of months ago, so my feedback wouldn't be accurate. I hope someone can help you both decide!

Still waiting to hear from either Gary or Valpo.... the suspense is killing me... my nerves are completely shot!

So I have a question for anyone that knows haha. I recieved my acceptance letter to the LPN program at the lawrence campus...I am super excited as I was not expecting to get into the ASN, that said, do they send out alternate letters. Say they send 15 alternate letters only and 18 people turn down the positions, what happens then...can people from the PN program that were not declared an alternate be bumped up to ASN? Thank you.

Hello all, I just wanted to add some info I know. I got my acceptance letter for the Lawrence campus! I applied also for Evansville also. (Still waiting) The chair of the nursing dept in Evansville advised they are not sending out their letters until the 30th. I got all A's in my pre-reqs and a 79 on my TEAS. (139/160)

Some insight I have about Evansville's campus: only one person in the past 3 years have been accepted into the ASN PROGRAM with a "B". So you must strive for all A's also I heard they were accepting around 25 this coming spring. (This is what I learned in orientation this past January.) Good luck to all!

Ps.) I am interested in how many applicants/spots each campus has.
